Christopher Goodwin That, sir, is a pellet burner. The same as what would be on a pellet burning grill. It automates the smoking process and regulates its own temperature while still burning wood (pellets). It works freaking awesome!!

Scott Iwen so does the fridge run for cold smoking or is that a stupid question?

Christopher Goodwin That is not a stupid question at all. The answer is no. The lowest temp I can achieve is 225°F. It is mainly a hot smoker. BUT, I can place the AMNPS inside the fridge without lighting the pellet burner and I have a cold smoker, in colder ambient temperatures of course.

I have an AMNPS as well but when I put it in my propane smoker it goes for a little then stops smoking. I have a good torch I light it with and then I open all the vents yet still burns out and I have to light again. How do you get it to stay let inside yours? Thanks.

gretscher I usually never have a problem keeping it lit. The smoker is an induced draft type smoker so low oxygen levels are not a problem. I also keep the pellet burner near the heat source, that probably helps keep it lit as well.

Measure out your pellets and put them in a microwave proof bowl. Run them on high for 2 1/2 minutes, stir and then three minutes. Put them back in your AMNPS and light until you get a flame and let it burn for 10 minutes. Then it won't go out. Believe me I've been there and had the same trouble you had.
