How I lost 127k Day Trading the stock market!!
I have been trading the stock market for years...
After swing trading and getting bored sitting on my hands, I tested my skills in day trading...
At the time it was the worst decision I could of made...
Now I appreciate it, as it showed me where I should stay focused with which principals to stand by.
This gave me the blueprint to stand behind and you can use it as well....
Lots of losses can be made if you are not careful in any trading vehicle but day trading is the worst.
As a long term investor, I can scale and focus on multiple projects without the stress and headaches of daily ups and downs...
Watch my video on How I lost 127k Day Trading the Stock Market to see why this was a blessing in disguise.

Sorry for your loss, I lost 250k$ in one night selling all my portfolio and buying this one stock that took a nose dive and dropped 82% in one day! The company was scamming for weeks on alleged successful deals they were making, and that day, it all turned out to be lies, their scams were published.

Wow that is a tough pill to swallow. Did you get compensated through a lawsuit or anything? What was the company? The mindset to get over this is much tougher than actual money and bills imo. @@MattJ3 Company was at the hydrogen and fuel cell industry. but I think it can happen with any other stock. Selling all my diverse portfolio and buying a single stock without any "stop loss" decisions indicate that I sure did more then one mistake that day. Well the reason for all this, is that I had awfully bad mood because of other things going in life, and I should had never trade that day. This is my conclusion, if you are on the wrong mind set, don't trade, take a day off, this is not a game.
@MattJ3

@@jdjd2059 Appreciate you sharing as these help with others also. Yes it can happen to any stock. You made some excellent points here. You are aware you made mistakes and were not in the right mindset, that is amazing to recognize because it is a key to better performance. Being in a bad mood also will throw your day off, your week off maybe and flush out your trading account. This is what I always tell people, temperament is the most important. You can be successful for 10 years and then life is not the same, problems at home and your trading can go down the tubes. Never force opportunity or making money, it hardly ever works anyways. Such key insights here. Thank you, this will make us all better in the future!!

I guess I'm insane. You've heard the expression "the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result." That pretty much sums up the last couple of years for me day trading. The same dumb-ass mistakes over and over. Anyway, I quit today. Feels pretty good, even though I have no idea what I'm going to do next. Canceled Benzinga Pro, DAS Trader, and am emptying whats left of my meager IB acct tomorrow. I even canceled Directv as I only had it for CNBC access. I really believed I would be part of the 10% who make it in day trading, as I fell above the 90 percentile in most other areas. I trained long and hard -6 months in a simulator. Got very good at it too. I genuinely thought I was going to be rich. It has taken me a long time to admit I just don't have the stomach for this. If you are trading in a simulator right now, and it's nerve-wracking-that's your sign to get out. The pressure, stress and intensity is exponentially larger with your money. You will develop health issues unless you are an extremely resilient person. I have to go get a job now, as I just blew most of the money my dear father left me. Sorry, Pop.

Elizabeth B. Sorry for late reply. Thanks for sharing your honest experience. I believe you got caught in the fantasy of making money, living the dream trading life and then also holding on to the emotional lost of the past which keeps you making the same mistakes. I believe day trading is limited and there is much more to capture out in life then trading. In general and with finances. I have goals of doing a million a year now and that’s not possible really with day trading. And then more once that’s achieved. I had a small loss comparatively to everyone on here, i lost 50% of my account, ever since that day i've kept repeating the slogan "TRADE SAFE NOT SORRY". This has really kept my greed at bay and has ensured i take a profit instead of waiting it out. This was going great, i made all of my money back and 10% on top, then i stopped my daily ritual of reading out my rules and finding my center, lost 6% today, that took me 6 days to make. To anyone on here, always meditate before trading, place yourself outside your brain and try to get into the correct mindset before trading.

Thank you for sharing. I feel your pain. I turned 20k into 150k. over six months, and then I lost it all exactly to the patterns you're talking about. I started losing, and starting taking on bigger more risky bets and kept spiraling down to $0. again thank you for sharing, your description makes me feel a bit better about myself, I've hated myself for it long enough. but you're absolutely right that there are so many factors involved and psychologically speaking humans are very weak and aren't wired to trade the market. my mistake was getting influenced by other people online and around me in real life. they made me doubt my already successful strategy and I deviated from the plan... it's horrible but lesson learned. now I have to find a job to pay off my debts in this horrible pandemic :)

I repeatedly put myself in a position where i could lose everything if the stock market crashed more than 15-20% which means i was bound to lose it all sooner or later. In march 2020 that time eventually came. And while everybody had the best buying opportunity of their life i was sitting there extending my stop losses until i had no money left. I got wiped at the bottom of the correction. 100k down the drain. The following 2 months were the worst of my life. I would get paralyzed just thinking about it... but in the end i realized that the loss didnt change anything. I was already living below my means as if I never had that money and as time went on I eventually got over it.

I find that being reckless, emotional and irrational is the biggest enemy in trading. Every time I make a rushed decision I'd lose money. Very important to stick to the strategy that already works. Not going for crazy leverage trades when you are SURE it will work out. Nothing is certain. And it's so hard to stop because you already had a bad trade so you keep taking reckless trades in hopes that one trade will get all your money back. That just won't happen. There is a reason why that's called degenerative gambling. At that point your chances to win in a casino is higher than in stock market.

Thanks for this video and being honest. I'll add to a lot of other people's experiences here... I've lost about $100K daytrading over the years. And I'm not wealthy. That could have gone to my kid's college fund. Not to mention all the wasted time and energy I could have been putting into more productive things or spending time with my family. I've heard that only about 5% of daytraders make a profit, and the rest lose money. From what I've researched, I believe that is pretty accurate (maybe even less than that). It's actually worse odds than a casino. I'll leave it at that.

You quit day trading awesome. Sounds like you were a better swing trader anyway. Maybe if you stayed consistent, which is one of the basic rules of trading and not trying to do what other people do, you would have been successful in the end.

TheFavoriteColors yes you are right but this is what taught me for certain what trading strategy is best for me. The day traders did influence me but I also wanted to create an income that was more on a weekly basis. With real estate and swing trading for years I would often not see pay checks for months at time, that sometimes gets frustrating but not as bad as losing. Swing trading is the way to go I’ve gotten my trading down pat since this video and was all well worth it. Thanks for commenting!

This resonates with me, in more ways than I can articulate in a short post. I did fine trading in a small account. Scaling it, the mind games started. Then the side hustle work slowed. Then bills started piling up. Then I needed more money. And those profits quickly turned to much bigger losses. In the grand scheme of things, I'm only down 5 grand, but I can't fund a margin account anymore, and that's a lot of money to me. I'm not one to quit, and I don't plan to, but my experience, and the experience you've shared, really make that whole psychology aspect a lot clearer to me than before. Nothing screws with a persons head more than losing money. No yolos.

I am a long term trader. I started day trading for fun 3 weeks ago... but it’s been rough. You spend your entire day in front of a bunch of computer screens - jumping between stocks every couple of hours or minutes. And I’ve made some gains and some losses. But one thing I learned as a day trader - you end up taking more risks! I’ll jump into a stock knowing very little about the company - but I’ll get in because it’s jumping and I want to ride the wave. Once you take losses, you’ll try to make it back taking more risk. Lol. It’s a viscous cycle. I’m gonna go back to long term trading. Haha.

I did some day trading 20 years ago. Broke about even, but it was not worth the stress and effort. I found my little nitch in the market by selling short term call and put options, my target is 400 a week with little risk and stress as 9 out of 10 options expire worthless, so I have been building my market portfolio slowly.

Here to share my story too. I have recently tried to get into options trading. Everytime I traded, I was green. I am not kidding as to this as I have traded probably 20 attempts all with anywhere between a couple hundred to 5.5k gains. Took and is now taking a vacation with me trading with my psychology completely different and lost not only everything I had previously gained but another 30% of my previous account value. I have been practicing trading for the last 5 or so years but this has really hit me... I don't think I can be in the stock market... For me, I think it is fools gold but I think I learned my lesson earlier (26M) than later. Thank you for sharing as well.

TY for sharing this Matt. I believe in Swing Trading. I don't believe in Day Trading. I too suffered about 20K in losses 10 years ago day trading. It's just not a good way to sustain an income because it's predicated on an absolute necessity to cash flow every week as if one had a stable weekly income. Trading isn't a stable form of making money short-term. Lots of volume in day trading - and that's hard to manage in a traditional method. TY for sharing this - we all feel your pain.

Stop blaming the market and day trading. Ive been day trading for almost 2 years and I can tell you its impossible to win if you don't have the right mindset and if you do have the right mindset its impossible to not be consistenly profitable. Problem is folks don't want to loose or be wrong. One you get over that and you can stop needing to right on every trade you will start to take profits as they are given by scaling out in fractions and cutting losses quickly by scaling out of plays as soon as they go againts you. Oh and never hestitate to put on trade because you will experience losses no matter how much you analyze they just don't have to turn into red days. Its not about being right or wrong on a trade its about performing well when the market moves in or against your favor.

Nothing in the long run of things. For me personally I would not even focus on trading with such small amounts. Better to focus on how to create an income of 150k,250k+ a year. Then set up investments to work on the side for more income potential. You can scale much more with others then with next to no risk, rather than day trade stocks with risk and with small amounts it worthless. Just my two cents.

Its all bcs i have too much trust on the broker with lack of knowledge on trading and the mentor that turn me to this now i think he’s incompetent and dont know what he is doing. Im lost, i cant sleep i even totally stay awake 24 hours, lost my appetite and the worst is i need to keep going to work and pretend that everything is alright. Some coworkers spot my emotions but i just said its PMS. Im tired of this, i wanna pull myself in the darkness and never came out of it. Its all the savings i made by working 12 hours everyday almost a year. It hurts me so much when i think about it. The other problem im facing is that i need to pay my tuition next year which make it more complicated. I do try meditation but seems still not working. I dont know what to do atm. My partner dont know abt this (its all my own money tho). Will never let my fam know bcs it’ll just turn them down. Thanks for the video anyway.

Yes the best way for financial freedom is to work for it(building a business)... best way to scale. I wouldn't say stay away from the stock market though. You need to know how to create wealth through investing. Starting small is not a problem. Create principals that you can apply for life and give you the peace of mind to be able to perform in all aspects. Think about what you would do long term. Just build positions in great companies that will be around for a long time and you will be fine!

Don’t wait until they crash you. Sometimes I put 25k and I only pick up $250. That has work for me, I’m on green for a long time. And last if you can take back the money you put in to it and play just with their money. If you loose you will just had a bad experience. Not a devastating event Good luck money chasers !!!!

(1 rule in the stock market for me is) that i scalp so my rule is always have a stop and never hold over night never because atleast if you have a stop and maybe your wifi shuts of you pc cathches on fire or explodes as long as you have that stoploss it is logged in the servers of your broker and so you will be backed up if anything happens or if there is like a gme downfall then your whole account is screwed also a reason i dislike investing into stocks definitly riskier and rather like day trading/scalping

Everyone is built differently, there’s people who fear being in long term investments because a company can do down at any point! With bad news and a bad analysts, I prefer analyzing graphs and learning your charts and having discipline on when to execute and when to exit a trade, and having your charts makes out 100%, with your support and resistance and trend lines do not lie, this is where most day traders fail because they tend to think it’s as easy as just putting in the money and taking it out at any point and it’s not, everything has a trend and will most likely always come back to a support or resistance and that’s when you’re discipline comes in if you should execute that trade! Plus the reward is nice ! Everyone is a different type of skill tho !

Yea I hear you. The way I look at things though is day trading is a hands on gig. For long term investing you can make your money else way while still investing, creating even more wealth.
