Hey guys,
This is a very sensitive subject for me for many reasons but I won’t get into it right now.
The reason why I decided to talk about the weight loss was because I got asked about it.
I know that the internet is going crazy over the keto diet and that some people transform a diet into a cult, but it is not my case.
I wanted to lose my weight that I’ve accumulated in the past two years and I needed something that would truly work. I have mentained my weight for 12 years, so for me it’s not as hard to keep the same weight, it’s really hard to decided what to do to lose the weight in the first place.
Here’s my journey, I know that the first part is pretty long but it’s about my real struggles.
However I decided to add numbers to each subject that I am talking about so this way it is easier for you to just watch only parts that ypu are interested to.
Bellow you will find all the details and I hope this video was as informative as it could be for a first video where I talk about diet and food and weight loss.
Let me know in the comments if you have any questions and I’d be happy to answer you.
Thank you so much for the love and support !

Shoutout to MAKEUPSHAYLA who shared this recipe on her KZbin channel.

Recipe ( you can adapt this the way you want, I did it too for my own taste and preference)
1 tbsp Chia Seeds
3 tbsp Hempseeds
I add normal milk ( works with almost, coconut milk if you prefer) I’d say about 6 tbsp and I let this mixture in the fridge for about an h
Then I add:
a handful of pecan nuts
a handful of pumpkin seeds
a handful of coconut flakes
1 tsp Xylitol ( u can use stevia, I personally hate the taste)
1 tbsp organic almond butter
1 cup berries ( I use raspberries)

Intermittent fasting is a miracle. My skin was better, I lost weight, my digestion got better. And yes! breakfast is overrated! Once I stopped eating breakfast and I noticed I lost weight. And my last meal was at 6pm.

Dr Berg is fantastic. I have done Keto and have never felt better. Your headaches initially are common and are due to carb withdrawal . (Any withdrawal is a body tantrum wanting what it is addicted to ) . I decreased my carbs very slowly because I was away working when I started it and could not afford to feel unwell. It worked. So happy to hear you made a change before the amount was 100 lbs...its great inspiration for those that have some to lose but not a lot- stop the gaining & turn the tide . Cheers to your health!

For me personally, keto and intermittent fasting helped me lose weight without ever feeling hangry, lethargic or deprived. Ultimately, the best benefits were that this approach helped me change my mindset in regards to eating. Since I feel great, I don't need to "treat" myself with food to diminish any desires or cravings or psychological issues. I enjoy paying attention to how I feel, and I appreciate having strict guidelines to keep me focused. In regards to concerns about maintaining the keto diet long-term, there are many valid issues. Every body is different, and we all need to develop sensitivity to what feels right and also do our research in regards to whether or not we are consuming the nutrients we need. I believe that keto is great short-term, and then over time it's possible to start including other foods and see how that goes. The main focus becomes health and vitality and an awareness of what we're putting into our bodies and how it affects us both short and long-term. Intermittent fasting is incredible overall as it sets clear guidelines and allows you to set limits and come to terms with what you're feeling physically and what you're struggling with emotionally. It allows you to discern what your body needs as opposed to what you emotionally desire.

Good for you. I did this almost 6 months ago. I've had similar results. And carbs made me hairier because I noticed a huge decrease around 50% in peach fuzz on cheeks. I'll never return to the unhealthy carb insulin cycle. I'll treat once in awhile but vegetables/fruits are proper carbs for me. Fiber, healthy fats, protein.

Weight is such an individual thing as is diet and routine. For instance, I am Andrea's same height, a quarter inch taller and my maintaining weight is 119lbs to 122lbs. Yet, I have little visible fat, and more muscle tone. So, everyone, go by how you feel and body fat percentage. Look at your energy levels and how you gain weight if you do. Body type is very important as health is a contextual and holistic measure. I know this might be a basic concept for some but for others, they might only look at the numbers on a scale. In my opinion, moderation, sensible eating and listening to your body is number one. Secondly, I do think that limiting your eating with certain hours is helpful. Finally, simplicity is the most important way of maintaining and actually staying healthy all your life. Diets don't work if you can't be consistent through time.

I'm not afraid of keto since I used it as a tool, not as a lifestyle. Avoid fruit except avocado is a must if you want to start ketosis asap. Make your keto period as effective n as quick as possible. Know your tool!!

Andreea, thanks for this video, it made me think that I’m on the right track. I have a psychiatric disorder and have been on medications for over 25 years. I gained an enormous amount of weight during those years because of the meds. I tried everything on the book to lose weight and nothing worked, then my Dr. referred me to this diet clinic that specializes in Keto and Low Carb diets with IF, in 5 months I lost 20 pounds. I’m 1.53m. My weight loss is not as dramatic as others because I’m on the same meds as before, but I’m feeling more healthy and I’m not a borderline diabetic anymore. On my cheat days I eat a little bit of bread cause that’s the only thing that I miss sometimes, but I don’t miss sweets actually they make me nauseous 🙂

Hi Andrea, I hope you have healthy results with your new diet. I personally find Keto diet a bit too restrictive. Of course, I am not against eating organic dairy, meat products and lots of veggies. I am a believer in moderation in eating; getting rid of fruit from diet is a bit too much for me. But I like the idea of not having snacks in between meals, and restricting the eating time. That alone teaches people how to control their appetite. And for a lot of people, it can give results in terms of weight loss; not as quickly as 6 kilos in 2 months maybe (for a person in your height & weight), but a more gradual and sustainable weight loss. For the hair loss, I hope you saw a doctor, hair loss might be related to hormonal issues which may or may not be related to your new diet.

Hi Andreea, I just want to say thank you. I came across one of your videos a week or so ago and now I can't get enough, you have awoken my love of make-up again which I haven't had in well over 15yrs. I've ordered all sorts of products like a new brush kit & cleaners, good facial cleanser & moisturizer kits, beauty blenders... etc. I even have an appointment at a high end beauty shop here to go over my colours, learn some application tips & tricks and to get some great make-up, I'm throwing out all my old make-up and starting from scratch with nice products that suit my colour tone. I just tried to order the Exuviance face oil you talked about a few weeks ago but the link you added is just for the US and I'm in Canada. I did find it available on a different website but it was $97, thank goodness the shipping was free. Thanks again for being an inspiration to me, and I'm sure to others, It'll be like playing with my Mom's make-up when I was a kid, only this time I'll know what I'm doing, lol! Keep up with the KZbin videos, they're great, I thought I knew a lot about make-up but it seems I don't know the half of it. I like learning from you, you make things easy to understand without feeling like you're dumbing it down, in turn making us feel stupid, thank you for that. Jen

I had the same experience after moving out of the UK to Continental Europe (Your hair in this video is, glorious, btw). Started eating a lot of bread, mostly because it was everywhere and I wasn't taking the time to cook and prepare food in advance. I'd go out to look for lunch and everything was bread bread bread. So I ate bread. Only a little at first and then more and more. Eventually my tummy got so big that I looked really fat even though I wasn't that big, like my tummy, chest, hip ratio was like 1:1.1:1.2. And I was choosing bread over food, which is really bad, like actual food, vegetables, meat. So I just cut it out, slowly. I try not to be hungry while I'm on the go so I don't fall into the trap of buying something with bread, which is almost always what you can get on the go. I've doubled or tripled the amount of protein I used to eat. I thought I was eating a lot of protein but I wasn't, for my size. You're supposed to eat 0.5-1g of protein per kg of body weight to maintain muscle mass, and muscle mass is what helps you burn fat. . I couldn't try Keto but I'm sure it works if you like high fat foods. I just wouldn't be able to keep up the ratio because I like a lot of foods that are high in proteins and carbs, like beans, and chickpeas, and not a lot of foods that are high in fats, like cheese. Intermittent fasting works for me though. I used to eat breakfast early even if I had dinner late. Now I just eat my last and first meal about 12 hours apart, or more. The easiest is to not eat in the morning for as long as possible. It's a lot harder to stop eating once I've started, but not that hard to not start, after sleeping. High protein also helps, so it all works together. 😊

I just this very minute found this video. OMG!!! I would never have guessed you are only an inch taller than me. What I enjoyed about your video was your reference to Dr. Berg and IF. I have followed him for about three years. That's when I started IF, haven't really tried the Keto Diet maybe because I just couldn't eat that much food. Sadly, things changed in my life a few months ago and IF went out the window, however, I recently started again and when I saw your video and listened to your story it motivated me to stay on the IF path. Dr. Berg is great and funny. Looking at older pictures of him, you can really see the difference IF and Keto has made in his life. I was able to speak with him a couple of times via his live YT show. Thank you, Ali Andreea.

I'm glad she's happy with her body but this is the 3rd video I've seen lately where a beauty guru has talked about their weight being "at the upper limit" for their height when every BMI/height-weight chart I can find shows the weight they're claiming near the minimum. I don't care how heavy or skinny anyone wants to be, but I wish I knew where these ladies are getting these numbers. Bodies are composed differently, so perhaps it's their doctor's recommendation but none of them mention being advised to lose weight.

MorningStar I think it's important to be clear. She says that she was 5'1" and weighed 104 lbs before moving, that puts her at the bottom of the green or 'healthy' range according to the chart you linked. After moving, she gained and went up to 121 lbs. Your chart puts that perfectly within the healthy range, with "overweight" for her height beginning just at 135 lbs. Obviously what is most important is that she is happy with her health and appearance. I'm glad she found something that works for her!

@@bexeila4637 You are missing the point. BMI is a GUIDELINE, which is how it is used. If one approaches the upper limit of healthy BMI then one is getting fat. Plus, she clearly didn't feel AND didn't look good - her words, not mine. Working out is only 10 % of effective healthy weight loss.
@bexeila4637
@bexeila4637 5 жыл бұрын
Of course it's a guideline. BMI charts (like the one someone else linked) tend to give a range and not a single specific weight for each height, and do not take into account other factors that may effect what a healthy weight is for certain individuals. People may determine for themselves how they wish to look and feel and take steps to achieve their personal preferences. However, being medically overweight or obese is different from just a feeling.

Andreaa i love the way u organised tje vid! Super helpful and always, as u usually do, think about us. Tx so muxh 4 being so thoughtful. Just one thing, Im also short, 1.53mtrs tall, 47 kgs is not the upper weight limit. WHO has the BMI (body mass index) where it indicates according to height and weight what type of body a person has: thin, slim, normal, overweighted, obese 1, obese 2, obese 3, and morbid obesity. The limits for a person like me with 1.53mtrs tall, is between 44 and 58 kilos (to have a healthy, normal weight) under 44 kilos it states "acceptable thinnes", stressing the fact that the person is slightly underweighted, but can do with it. Above 58 kgs, it states overweight. I believe it is important to make these things clear as it is what all doctors around the world take into account when assessing obesity. Once again, tx for taking the time to organise the box so clearly and with so much patience and love. Love, Lau

Laura L Thank you for taking time to write this. I think it matters a lot your body type. Back home I had my doctor who would put me on the scale and tell me how much muscle mass I had, fat, water etc. He told me That my bone structure is very thin and if I want to still look thin I have to not get over 49 kg. I think I am still normal at 55 kg according to BMI but I promise you I look chubby at that weight. For me it’s more important how I feel than anything else. I have been monitoring my weight my whole life so that’s why I know at what weight I feel the best. 😘❤️

The purpose of my comment was cause there are tons of teens there, watching, and they may think... oh, i weight 52. Im fat. I need to lose weight. And most probably, they are fine. It was by no means with any intetion to cause any harm at all, just that im super aware of these things, having struggled with anorexia in the past. It all came from my heart and with all my love and respect for you. I super admire you and I hope I have not offended you in any way with my comment. I remember you said In your Instagram stories not too long ago that you stopped doing keto because you didnt feel too good on it. I think for me keto is most definitely not a way of life, as much as proponents of it want to say it is. Its extremely restrictive and it's most definitely just one of many ways to achieve your weight loss goals. Bottom line, a calorie deficit is the most important thing to lose weight. Diet choice is really just a preference.

You are adorable, your English is very good. I recently started watching Dr. Berg and enjoyed his little KZbin videos. I started to try his intermittent fasting. It wasn't hard. I never eat breakfast anyway. Just green organic tea in the morning. This time I started to add heavy cream to it, and a packet of Stevia. I usually have a little something at about 2:00 PM for lunch. I also tried to drink the apple cider vinegar and water every day and I tried to eat more protein and veggies for dinner and no fruit, except berries with a little heavy cream. After 2 weeks I had lost 6 pounds. Right now, I have a big stomach ache and do not really feel like eating much at all. Not sure if the Keto diet is responsible, but I also seem to be constipated. I am hoping this will pass. Thank you for this video.

First of all I want to thank you for being the first influencer I’ve seen that keep things so down to earth and real🙏🏼❤️ I feel like I can relate to you in many ways! Then I would like to congratulate you to your weight loss and strength, it shows that it wasn’t just waterweight but more shedding from an (to me) already slim woman! I would like to recommend you to eat zinc when it comes to hair loss cause it has so many great benefits and one included is hair loss and skin. Also sleep and most of all boost the immune system! I used to shed so much hair til I started eating sink and now it’s barely nothing in my brush at the end of the day🎉🙏🏼 I look forward to seeing more of you and keep up the awesome work you do beautiful😍💗🌸🎉

Really? Who is the 58 dislikes? This is her journey, that I followed myself 16 years ago before these diets became popular. It made my life healthier, mind and spirit. If you have negativity, take a look at why you post them...she is helping her community. If you dont like it, keep it to yourself unless what she says offends you. Bravo for posting! There are some of us who have been through struggles and a journey and we need to get back on track. I will say, working out is the only way to stay fit with mindful eating. You can splurge if you add working out...we need to splurge on more than fruit! AND can be done!

I agree with you, I also feel better about myself too. Im not sure it will be a total life style change, but it has made me so much more aware of what not to eat. And that my body can survive on alot less than what i was eating. BTW you are beautiful and thanks for sharing this

Ali, love your channel. You are a beautiful woman and have great suggestions for makeup. You speak so calmly and it’s such a pleasure listening to your voice. I am 5’2” and am 59 kg. I am very curvy, so it’s difficult for me to get thinner without looking anorexic. I look healthy and I exercise, so I have to leave it at that, as my face and arms start looking skeletal and unattractive if I lose too much weight. I eat everyday from 12-7 nothing before or afterward, except for water or plain tea or coffee. I originally went on the keto diet, but love fresh bread and pizza too much to give them up & missed them too much, so I just eat what I want, but just less. You do look beautiful and happy and I’m glad for you that you are enjoying the keto diet. ❤️

also sweet to classify fruits as a cheat screams eating disorder to most balanced individuals like myself- fruits and vegetables are part of a healthy varied diet. the only reason keto has worked for you is because you are in a calorie deficit. this has been proven over and over again by hundreds of medical studies. kept places so much strain on the hormonal balance of women ( if you are losing hair it is your bodies way of screaming for help!) so it is very dangerous in the long term for women and fertility. yes u get fast results but it all down to energy in vs energy out, if you sit and calculate your calories I can guarantee you are in a deficit hence the weight loss. there is no magic method or pill. eating a healthy varied diet full of fruits and veg and good carbs such as oatmeal, sweet potato all work in losing body fat as long as you keep yourself in a calorie deficit and actually stop these headaches, mood swings and general restrictive lifestyle. the balanced approach also ensures your hormones are levelled out and things like loss of periods and hair loss does not exist. your body can only talk you by showing you signs such as hairless or headaches etc. it has no other way to scream out help. I was fine with your video and love them up the point that you classified fruits as a cheat meal. this mindset is scary amongst people. food is fuel for the body and fruits can never be seen as a negative. wish you the best with your journey but please research more into fat loss without kept and I promise you will find a more happy existance hormonally and physically that still keeps you away from bread (which again is not the devil as long as u stay within calorie requirements) and pastries. Intermittent fasting Is another tool to keep calories within a certain range - eating at specified times of the day has been proven not to increase fat loss compared to calorie controlled diets....it Is literally just working as a red light to your mouth-to stop you from eating thats all...all being said I don't have major issues with intermittent fasting but kept is a no no no for me as it is not good for women

Hi Farzana, actually, keto diets are generally higher in caloric intake due to the healthy fat consumption. It's all about how your body uses the nutrients and the control of insulin release. Very healthy diet to maintain if done correctly. You are correct that severe calorie restriction would be unhealthy! Intermittent fasting is not a caloric reduction tool. To correctly incorporate intermittent fasting, you need to increase calories at each meal. It is about giving your pancreas a rest so that your insulin is only being released at certain times and not constantly throughout the day, which you are probably aware can lead to metabolic disorder and diabetes. I did not experience hair loss or headaches but I did experience, and still enjoy, increased energy, more restful sleep, clearer thinking and clearer skin. Many many people I know express the same, including several that I work with. Keto done right is very healthy.

hi Andrea, I started keto exactly one week ago and already cut 1.2kg without EVER feeling tired or hungry, the third and fourth day I had keto flu, headache and felt sick but now I feel sooooo great and have zero sugar cravings (never ever happened before, I was sugar and carb junkie my whole life), also: zero new acne since one week.....I did my research for 10 days 5-6 hours a day before starting and small bonus: I am a doctor myself, I see no reasons why young healthy adults with no kidney problems should not be doing that....so do not listen what people are writing in the comment section, some just feel bitter because they do not have the motivation that you have, because it is not an easy thing to do, at least at first. The reason why you lost hair is the lack of proteins, your hair is proteins, so just add some more proteins in your diet if you will ever have these problems again.

I just want to say that I am happy you found a way to feel better about yourself because I understand how important that is, but I do want to add that you are so beautiful and I never once in all these videos did I ever think to myself about you as being overweight. I love how voluptuous and we'll yes I can say this ..... sexy you are and the point is you can really get away with that Pain au Chocolat every now and then, or even a few Macarons.(which I am sure you do) It's always a toss up for me because I have naturally larger hips and that is the last place I loose last. I notice that dieting and too much excercise causes me to loose too much from my cheeks and face, which can be aging, I guess it's all about finding that balance, right? This year I decided I would just be kind to myself and eat healthy, listen to my body because I really believe it tells us what it needs, and have a cheat day where I eat anything but most of all focus on loving the way I am. I am happy for you.

Congratulations on finding something that works for you, you look amazing. My brother went on the Keto diet and lost weight. Six months in he passed out behind the wheel and almost died when he crashed into a brick wall and it was attributed to his diet. My co-worker did Keto for 4 months and was thrilled with her weight loss and told everyone to try it until she was hospitalized with gallstones and had to have her gallbladder removed. Both of them have since sworn off Keto and have taken to the "everything in moderation" philosophy when it comes to their eating habits. I'm all for looking good and being happy with how you look but this diet has some serious side effects that can be harmful. I didn't come here to be "hate" on this video so please don't take it as such. My only hope is that people look at all the information and potential side effects before they start a fad diet.

My co-worker did the intermittent fasting and was in the ER every night for a week until it was diagnosed as gallstones. I'm not for or against this diet. I just think people should, at minimum, consult their GP (not one on KZbin) so that a medical professional is monitoring them.

I had never heard of it until my brother started losing weight. He was over the moon and with good reason because he was able to maintain the lbs lost. But his accident was an eye opener, and a scary one at that. So he's now making better choices but is also telling everyone to be on their guard if they want to try Keto. Because even when you're doing everything right, something can go wrong.

Eating seasonal and regional is the best thing you can do. Human beings weren‘t meant to eat that huge amount of sugar / carbs that we have in our modern nutrition. Fruits are totally fine, when they have their season, but not throughout the whole year (that would give your body the wrong information). Complete that nutrition with cold showers (and when I say cold, I mean cold) and that‘s the best you can do for your health in my opinion :) It‘s a complex topic, just sharing a tiny bit of information and experiences ;) Ps. I totally agree with the intermittent fasting!

And it is a lifestyle for me too, but I sometimes went out of keto after loosing the weight and what I can tell you is: it is every single time more difficult to come back in this ketogenic state. So I have made up my mind next time to stay at least in low carb (even if I am out o ketosis)! I hope this tip helps you, when you have to decide sugar or low carb desserts. Best regards and good success! bye! :-) Thank you!

IF you want the sweet mouthfeel and you have not been drinking smoothies with monkfruit/erythritol sugar substitute to satisfy you, then you could be like me. Everyday I eat two or three of either 95%, 90%, or 85% dark chocolate squares. Walmart has Finest brand chocolate and it is really Lindt Brand chocolate. At first I got used to 85% and that was bitter chocolate that the mouth enjoys instead of cookies and cakes and pies. Then I only bought 90% and it was good too, along with a handful of cashews (pecans are better). Then I bought only 95%. The bars are $2.00 and so it isn't gourmet but a real need to stay satisfied. It is an anti-oxidant but I have to have it for the mouthfeel and satisfaction of a chocolate treat everyday. It is not Bakers Chocolate brand. It is Finest brand, their housebrand. It has fat and a minimum of sugar. The chocolate with Xylitol is not a good idea because it cannot fool your mouth. Eat chocolate without Xylitol just more pure chocolate and it will satisfy your mouth (and brain).
