I also have a running soap drama where everytime I find new mealies I pretend they are coming to avenge their elders and I wipe them out again with a alcohol/water spray..... the boyfriend thinks I'm loosing it lol😜

I got the bugs who shall not be named from a tomato plant I had outside on my back porch 🥺 They've annihilated my variegated string of hearts. They're on my Hindu ropes which just now formed their first bloom clusters. Those crusty suckeres are about to die because I'm gonna throw down! I thought about taking the plants out of their pots, rinsing all the roots off and soaking them in neem, horticultural oil and water then scouring the pots and my home. Hopefully it'll work Nikki!

Mealybugs are my nemesis. I loathe them. I do want to see them suffer! I'm in a constant war with them. I have tried about everything there is to eradicate them and well, they still manage to exist. I put a stack of those round makeup pads in a jar and put in 70% alcohol and some water and let them soak. I keep them on hand that way. When I see some, i get one of the pads out and wipe down the area, leaf, etc. I find it works a bit better than the q-tip. Sometimes I use a small paintbrush dipped in alcohol to get in between the stem and the branch. Seriously, I am on patrol all the time.

I have been tempted to dunk a few hoyas & pothos in a water/alcohol bath to kill off the mealies....... I might just do it now..... I think the plants will survive.... right???

ZOMG! Mealies are the BANE of my existence! I had never had them before until a couple of years ago, and now they just won't freaking go away! Treating with systemic granules and spraying with foliar insecticide has helped immensely, but it seems I'm only keeping them 'under control' without completely getting rid of them. :( I will try these suggestions and hopefully I can gains some ground on these bastards

I know right!? You definitely need to stay on top of them. I typically treat for them twice a month when I have an outbreak and once a month if not. I've found that's the best way to keep them at bay.
