I thought you said Jew-dega, like a bodega but for Jewish stuff, including snacks. :-) I'm afraid I'm never gonna see a Judaica store without thinking Ju-dega or maybe one of those little stores that sells Chanukkah candles in July and snacks and cigarettes. I came to this channel via your Fiddler piece - which was very good. As a new Jew, I re-watched Fiddler during my conversion journey to see if my perception had changed. Yes and no.

It literally just means "Jewishness", nothing more, nothing less. If you can pronounce "kite", you can pronounce Yiddishkeit
