How I'm Preparing for Oxford Interviews 🙈 (science!!)

Hey guys!! This video is about how I'm currently preparing for my Oxford interviews (although let's be honest, can you really prepare...!?) which might help you guys in how to prepare for oxbridge interviews in general. The Oxbridge admissions process is scary and long, as you know, but I'm doing my best to stay calm!! Aaaah we'll see how it goes hey x

Watching this back makes me sound so well put together and prepared - HAHAHAHA how far from the truth!! In reality, you really can't prepare. I have NO idea what they'll ask or if they'll even look at my personal statement (in a way, I hope they don't!!). Regardless, I think interviews are a bit of a mental thing, and having gotten into the zone more with documentaries etc is about feeling more confident. We got thissssss ;) To my friends fortunate enough to have interviews... GOOD LUCK! Go smash it!! You have nothing to lose at all x x

Rowan K I know how you feel I had my dream art school and I turned me whole life around did two years of schooling in one semester and devoted myself to getting into this school and I didn't get in but it's turned out to be the best thing that's ever happened to me and I am so happy I didn't go this year and guess what I'm going next year, yayyyyyy! Seriously I was heart broken torn to pieces but now I can see it's a good thing who knows maybe you'll be in the same boat as me oneday

In my Oxford experience the personal statement was basically irrelevant. The interviews are the main focus - but they try to make them as relaxed as possible, mine were all just in the interviewer's study, and they didn't mind if you had a mind blank because they understood the pressure (I forgot the formula for hydrochloric acid...that was bad haha). In the end I chose not to take up my offer as Scottish universities offer you FAR more flexibility with your degree (you can choose outside courses which are completely unrelated to your degree and have up until your 3rd year to change your mind on your entire degree!) - so I'm now happily studying Law at Edinburgh as opposed to Chemistry at Oxford! But whatever you do, GOOD LUCK! You'll smash it x

Worcester! Got another interview at Pembroke tomorrow morning. I have absolutely no idea how they went, but I came out of them having enjoyed them. I think if you have a genuine passion and enthusiasm for your subject then it'll be grand - which you do. Best of luck :)

I feel like we're fairly different... you're a straight A student and I'm a mixed B-A student, I perhaps get, on the odd occasion, a B- to C on an essay if I'm feeling particularly non-studious, yet I feel myself rooting for you and hoping you achieve so highly in everything you tell us you're doing that I almost feel invested.. is that odd? I love Jade and her channel! She truly is a gem. I watch toons of other study channels but none of them is like hers. She and Ruby are two of my favorite ones. They are so different but still alike. Like Ruby's life is all about studying and she always studies, buy Jade is more chill (I hope you get what I'm saying). I legit can relate to Jade because I am doing biology too.. I did biology and chemistry but then I dropped chem because it just started getting really hard and I couldn't understand. Anyways the point of this comment was that I love how she is constantly coming up with new videos and ideas unlike some other channels that just film themselves studying for five hours and timelapse it.. she really puts so much thoughts, time and effort into her videos and I ADORE HER. You're a lot more prepared than I was for my Cambridge interviews a few years back (I panicked through the first interview and had given up by the second, but still managed to get an offer somehow) - just remember that even if it feels like it's going terribly, it's not the end of the world!

Good luck! I had my Cambridge interviews yesterday, and honestly there was no way I could’ve prepared haha. The questions weren’t related to my personal statement at all, and I sat down and they just went into asking me about the subject, there was nothing to put me at ease at the beginning or anything. But I came out alive, even if the two interviews were at complete opposite ends of the spectrum (the first one I honestly felt so stupid when I came out)!

I had an interview for Cambridge last year and I can tell you that it isn’t as scary as it is made out to be. Just be yourself and make sure you think out loud. I definitely found the mock interviews harder (likely because I knew the people interviewing me) and the interviewers were lovely. They want you to feel as welcome as possible. I had exactly the same experience as you did during your first interview! I was really shocked and upset at the time but I'm so glad I did it because it gave me an idea of how much I need to know about what I've written in my personal statement. Also, interviewers will try to put you off on purpose, but it doesn't mean they think you're a bad candidate! 4 years ago I was in the same exact position as you- except it was an interview to study mathematics at cambridge lol. The day of the interview I got sick and was losing my voice progressively and I was coughing profusely however, the interviewers were exceptionally nice and they tolerated me-phlegm and all. I did my interview and exams and was admitted for the following year. You can do it too!! Best of luck!

I'm studying AS at the moment but I was considering the different universities to apply to and Oxbridge just seemed so far away and out of reach.
