How I Made a Fire Poker Handle

Today I'll show you how to make a handle for a Fire Poker out of a piece of reinforcing bar, a couple of old bolts and a hunk of wood. Not available in stores :)

That was very interesting Dave. I reckon your second tractor bolt head has been well case hardened.

Yes it surprised me how hard the head of the bolt was and it was just the skin on the head which faces the ground. It’s off a 6’ slasher (think big mower deck). It’s spins around 1500 RPM which makes a huge surface speed at that diameter. I change the bolts every year as eventually they would wear through. I bought the slasher used and they were half worn through when I got it. The blades weigh at least 5kg so that was a scary sight.
