You remembering the first £100 profit made me smile. Milestones stick in the memory. My first greened profit of £1 (yes really) on a football match was Scotland v Hungary evening kick off. I knew I was on my way with this trading lark and sat back smugly knowing that all that was needed now was scaling and nothing could stop me. Five minutes into the match the floodlights failed and all bets were cancelled. My first 100 pounder was a testimonial match when the man himself got injured around the 80th minute and went off. The referee decided that there was no point in playing on without his nibs so blew the final whistle. Not a complete match. All bets cancelled !!! I always seem to stub my toe on the milestones. I got PTSD from my first horse race !!

Happy New year Peter i think you are a genius, i tend to stick to my specialist sport in football making modest profits each year since i started in 2004 and know a tiny bit about horse racing since i started,just from a knowledge point of view and not a trading view how did you go about learning about everything in horse racing as i would like to have a good depth of knowledge about this sport for which i know so little.
@betangeltv10 ай бұрын
Thanks for your kind words! I'm glad you've been successful in your specialist sport. To learn about horse racing, I started by watching races, and talking to people knowledgeable about the sport. Most of the stuff I read online was useless. It's a difficult sport to understand easily, so I just had to do it bit by bit over time. I actually don't think you need that much knowledge to trade racing, just the basics.

Very good stuff Peter. I've always been fascinated by what you can now achieve with technology etc and some application of time and effort.. the problem, that most avoid mentioning is that now we have the premium charge, to earn £1m in 'net profit' means over £2m in gross profit to allow for the huge percentage they take.

I was put on 20% PC in 2008 and then on 60% in 2011, but quickly found a way to reduce it's impact and just kept on going but also started seriously on Betdaq at that point. I'm not sure Betfair can justify PC any longer. So it wouldn't surprise me if it changes at some point in the future.

Happy new year Peter and another inspiring video. I’m curious to how you deal with the wild swings in prices at the 2 minutes to the off mark. I have been trying to learn to read for 3 years now, not very successfully. I always seem to be on the wrong side of whatever happens at 2 minutes. I know the simple solution is to be out before that but there’s quite often nothing happening before it or not enough liquidity to trade. Do you just trade through it as normal or do you exit before?

I don’t know what I was expecting when I watched this video. I went in with the question “how does horse race betting work?” But what I learned was, it complicated, and if you’re going to get ahead you need to understand every angle and strategy, and then you have to work really, really hard. Understanding all the angles and working tirelessly works in a lot of fields. But I still don’t understand how to properly bet horse racing

I obviously want my dogs to win for the prize money, but I’d like to win on the other dogs. Even if it was £1-£5 per race. Any advice you can give me to start out? I tried the demo software and was backing & laying against the fav in every race and it seemed to work. Just a bit wary to take the plunge and pay for the year in advance and mess it all up…

These days you need a huge bankroll, strict discipline and just scalp a couple of ticks here and there. The markets aren't as predictable as they once were.
@betangeltv10 ай бұрын
I'd agree that the markets are not as predictable as they used to be, but that's mainly down to falling liquidity. I'd completely disagree that you need a huge bankroll. My trading style suffers when the stakes are large, so I spend most of my time trading smaller stakes. I have done a video on this.

A bit skeptical of betfair trading guys selling their courses etc. If so profitable why the need to flaunt their products? Surely you'd want to concentrate on trading & especially would not want to encourage new competitors? Take with a pinch of salt their profitable trades they show not mentioning the amount of times its went the wrong way. Though I could be wrong.
@betangeltv7 ай бұрын
It's always good to approach these things with a questioning mindset. Research and due diligence are key when considering any trading courses or products. Unfortunately, most people in this marketplace are here to exploit people rather than help. However, I was one of Betfair's first customers, and I discovered trading long before many knew about betting exchanges. Bet Angel was created to help me trade when no similar tools existed. I don't make any money from affiliate fees or selling courses. Instead, I've made most of my money through investing and trading. If you want a comparison, I quickly looked at the people you are subscribed to. I don't appear to be one of those! But if you add up all the lifetime profits of the people you are subscribed to, they would only come to a small percentage of the commission I've paid on the profit I've made. I am the exception to the rule.

No, we have an Academy but it's curated content of past videos and it's free. KZbin hardly ever shows relevant videos so we decided to curate them properly there. The biggest barrier people tend to have with this sort of thing is not the strategies, but the ability to take and manage risk. So that's probably the think you need to work hardest on.

Whilst the amount you ve made on betfair trading is really impressive, it’s completely unrealistic to say it can still be done. I keep reading over and over again that the only people who make money now are the big traders. It’s virtually impossible for people new to trading to make any sort of profit at all. Obviously you want to perpetuate the myth that it’s still possible so people will buy your software, but really you re just taking advantage of idiots who actually think that they can compete on the markets and make thousands per week. It’s bullshit. You, and a handful of other traders probably do make a lot of money but I doubt anyone does on a consistent basis.
@betangeltv10 ай бұрын
Thank you for sharing your perspective. It's true that the betting and trading industry can be challenging, especially for newcomers. However, with the right knowledge, strategy, and perseverance, it is still possible to make a profit. It's important to stay informed and continuously adapt to the changing market conditions. As an example, I've taught my children to trade successfully many years after I first did it myself, and with many people saying it's not possible, it is. My main motivation nowadays is to keep highlighting the opportunities. When I started doing this, I was convinced exchanges would sweep all before them, but they haven't, as corporations push people to play stupid Casino games and online slots or sportsbooks. It's really sad. I only have a minority stake in Bet Angel nowadays. While I do have an incentive to promote its use, it's not as much as people think.

Very easy, knowing & doing are 2 different things. Edward Thorpe also wrote a book called beat the market, how to win on the stock market & he has made millions if not billions from that. I read it & i didnt understand a word of it. I understood beat the dealer but not beat the market. I think also he got involved with making a wearable computer to sort of cheat & beat the roulette wheel. I cant remember the name of the book i read on that but it was brilliant but if you wear one of these computers to beat the wheel ( & ones that you can use to count cards to beat the black jack dealer ) & you get caught i think its a minimum 10 years in jail.
