How I made an accurate to real life star map for my fictional world! History of the future

A program called Astrosynthesis allows you to create fictional space maps, but also allows you to download actual stellar data. It allows you to generate maps over various scales and keep things relatively scientific accurate. Highly recommended for writers and GMs of sci-fi games.

I am using astro synthesis, but i can't place the planets in the map , I mean only the stars are visible, can u help?

@@eshandas3645 Absolutely I can help, but please give me a day to put together a quick tutorial for you. I just got a new computer (about three hours ago) and am busy setting up all the software again. Just a quick, off the top of my head, if you select a star on the map, it should appear in the navigation pane on the left side of the screen. If you click on the star name, you should see a small window open in the upper left of your star map. If you click on the blue corner arrows, that window should maximize and will show you all the planets in the star system. You should also see a list of the planets in that navigation pane on the far left under the star name. If your system currently has no planets, you can choose to regenerate the system keeping the star name and AstroSynthesis will randomly generate the system for you. If you prefer to manually create your own, this can be done as well by right clicking on the star name and selecting "Add Child Object" or something like that. Once I get my new computer up and running I can send you some screen shots to make these things more clear.

Single click on Star name to have the popup solar system window open in the upper left corner of your stellar map. Right click on Star name and you can "Add Child" to that star. This is where you can add megastructures, planets, etc to your solar system manually.

@@stevenhoag1716 yes but the planets are not visible around the star .. just comes under the left side panel... i want them visible around the star

@@eshandas3645 When you click on the star name in the left side panel, you should see a small window open up in the upper left of your star map. In the lower right of that new box are little arrows pointing down and right. If you click on those, it should open up the solar system map which shows each of the planetary orbits around the star as well as their location, but you don't actually see the planets unless you click on the planet name and then it will show up in that popout that appears over the star map. Wish I could attach a screenshot here to show you want I mean. 😕

Loved your video! I'm glad that KZbin recommend this for me. I, too, am brainstorming my own sci-fi fantasy story/series. While I'm currently a freshman in college majoring in graphic design but, at the moment, switching to Video/Audio Production, I want to make a realistic world/universe with some minor tweeks here and there. I'm also a space/astronomy nerd myself. I've read a couple of books by Neil Degrasse Tyson. I'm planning on reading more. I also watch many videos on KZbin and astronomy and documentaries. I wish you luck and wish me luck too.
