I wanted to make some foil/metal tags, and this is what I came up with. I was thinking later of using tin foil and my xyron :)

In the military, we called it 100 mile an hour tape. It came in handy doing small patches on aircraft in a pinch. The adhesive on it is industrial grade, and causes any cuts you get from it to burn like crazy.

I love using this metal tape. Try peeling the backing off of a small part of the end of your piece of foil and sticking that down first. Then slowly pull off the rest of the backing paper using a towel or cloth to press as you go. This works especially well with large pieces. I learned this doing contact paper.

Thanks for the video. I had been eyeballing this tape in our garage. My husband had a roll of it and now it's mine! It has suddenly been misplaced. Blame it on those little elves that I have in my house....he he!

love this tape myself it comes in different widths if you want to get wider so you do not need to butt it up against each other and not have a line it will work great glad i am not the only one who uses this

Thanks so much. There is also contact paper that comes in metal...it is really wide and there is a stainless one. It will fit and cover most projects...hope it helps :) I have also run it through the bug prior to taking the sticky piece off and the contact works amazing . Do not get the cheaper kind that looks silver from Walmart but go to the hardware place and get stainless steel one. It works like a charm and you can use it by the sheets as long as you may need it. Thanks for all your videos

FYI: The tape is called aluminum tape. It's actually made of aluminum and is primarily used to join heating/cooling system duct vents because it will withstand the extreme temperatures of HV/AC systems. And the glue on the tape won't come off either...

@TracysTreasures24 -Sweet - the aluminium roof flashing that I get has an intensely thick squishy adhesive on the back so if you layer the alu-tape on top of it you get a pewter like effect, and it's soft enough that you can write (recess emboss or deboss) on it with fineliner permanent marker and then it looks like you rubbed patina on it. BTW I love the cadre and lilt of your voice - super soothing and cheery at the same time.

I have made metal tags with tin foil and my Xyron and it works. It stabilizes it quite well to use cardstock in the center. I have also made them using colored metallic sheets purchased at the craft store. TFS

I call it vent tape. You usually use it to seal up a/c or heating vents. One thing I have learned is NEVER pull the backing completely off of the tape if you are running a long strip because it kinks easily. Just put down one end and pull the backing off of the tape as you push it down. I learned the hard way that once the backing is off it gets impossible. I use Tim Holtz scissor on it and when it gets sticky, just wipe them off with a bit of blending solution.

TFS..I've been playing with the metal tape as well. Hubby just bought me another roll...it is kind of expensive here? Tim Holtz is coming out with some adhesive foil, so can't wait for that. I made some metal looking embellishments with the tape as well...works great and fun to see what you can come up with. Thanks Again..RuthAnn

thanks for good lesson! My husband is an adhesives and resins chemist. Just a tip: if you have trouble getting the release liner off of some tape like that metal furnace tape, take a piece of scotch tape and stick it to a corner of the metal tape's liner, and pull it, and it should pull away the liner so you can begin to remove it. May take a couple of tries.

@TracysTreasures24 It's such a great idea though. I did find some 4x12 metal sheets with adhesive at Hobby Lobby- 12 sheets for 4.99. They were labeled as "Specially designed for QuicKutz die-cutting tools" but I was able to use them in my Sizzix/Big Shot witha Cuttle bug embosser. Loved them. Keep up the great work and the awesome ideas.

when we overlap seams with fabric, we overlap and cut down both layers together through the middle. when the excess is cut off, the remaining parts butt together perfectly. I am not sure if this would in any way work for your seams since your parts are sticky...but maybe somebody can come up with something from that.

Sorry your comment got lost in my emails or got sent to my junk folder..sorry. I had to translate your comment as I only know English As for your question. I used foil tape from the hardware store to tape dryer vents together, it is very sticky. I then put it between the embossing plates and ran it through my machine, that is what gave it the embossed look. I hope this clears things up a bit for you
