Why waste a Destination mode going into the city if you don't want to pick up a ride? Simply turn off the app while driving towards the heart of the surge. When you feel you're ready, set Destination mode to a location far from the surge. This will give you priority for long rides over other drivers. If you hook a rider with a surge multiplier it will most likely be a long ride.

Fred Waller I agree with you Fred! But this is a perfect example of how humans need to be smarter than the algorithm that Uber sets up to cheat the majority of the drivers, especially when they want us to pick a quest and then at the last minute, a driver will not get rides to complete their quests because Uber does not want to pay out those quest bonuses. Uber accused drivers at NY airport for manipulating the app to create a surge by going offline at certain times and then going back on to collect the surge, but in Las Vegas, Uber will pull drivers outside of the FIFO lot during a surge, charge the rider the surge price and not pay the driver the surge price because the driver did not drive thru the surge or even get called out from the airport waiting lot. Breach of contract! So the way I see it, if Uber continues to deactivate drivers for cancelling rides or penalizing drivers in Uber Pro program for not accepting rides that will assist drivers in growing their own business to make the amount of money they need to make, and/or not driving in certain areas for their own safety, is more proof that Uber does not treat drivers as Independent Contractors. Kudos for this video to show all drivers that some humans are still smarter than an algorithm that is set up to cheat riders and drivers to the benefit of Uber... all while their stock continues to fall. Technology! Unbelievable!

I do $70/hr on doing the "$18 for 3 rides" on Lyft all the time. You end up getting 6 rides in about an hour 10mins - and that's $36 in bonuses PLUS around $4/ride to get $60 - then you get TIPS on those rides up to around $15 in tips (most of the time if they only give like $3 tips from a few of the riders). How do I do it? Go by Walmart or grocery stores by apartment complexes when the $18 for 3 rides timeframe starts. All of the people shopping need rides home - and it's usually 4 to 6 mins from the store to the apartments. And you keep getting called back to the store because you're right there. Lyft is GOOD to give you close rides to where you are located, whereas Uber will give you a ride 12mins from where you are (sucks and eats up time like crazy). Short trips near grocery stores is the trick to getting $70/hr during bonus periods. I do it and I hit over $70 almost each time. Sometimes I do get plucked from the area with a long ride from the store to somewhere else, and I end up getting like $55-$65/hr instead of that extra money.

I take 95 oercent of the trips the only time I cancel or refuse a request is if it’s in a very dangerous neighborhood . Uber puts these bonuses out there for everyone . It isn’t fair for a veteran to cheat the newer drivers out of better pay using a few tricks imo . Since I started two months ago the first week I averaged 22 an hiur the second $25 the third week m$28 the last three weeks $36 an hiur by war I g strategy videos . I used to use the same strategy but In my city of Toronto, surge does not exist anymore unfortunately, thanks to Lyft! What happens when Uber is surging, Lyft is not so they can get all the customers, so as a result Uber decides to turn surge off too so they can compete!

Hope Newman that’s what I’ve done and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t. But the surge is less likely to fade when I sign off and close the app completely and turn back on when in surge zone.

Count how many "IF"s are said in this video. Factoring in overhead and taxes, average Uber drivers earn $3 an hour. You have to game the system to make any money...how is that a decent job? Never a word said about average hourly income after expenses and taxes. Do yourself a favor and learn a marketable skill that will allow you to work for a company that pays employees well, provides benefits, and allows you to leave your car parked to minimize depreciation.

Uhm if you figure the $0.58 a mile deduction sometimes we do only make chump change . Thursday I drove 330 miles so $191 in wear and tear on my car. I worked and was online 12 hours and 33 min and used 10 hours and 2 min of my 12 hours of drive time I started at 2:30pm and finished at 4am . I literally finished a 50 trip quest and got $60 at 3:59 it took 2 hours to do the last two trips to get it I was panicking I started the day with 19 trips so I did 31 trips to hit 50 trips . I didn’t think it would happen you average 2-2.5 rides an hiur most of the time . AnywAy I spent $30 in gas but that’s figured in the mileage deduction . So that doesn’t count for this . I earned $509 total . $509 minus the $191 for wear tear and gas deduction left me with $318 profit .while I was online 12.5 hours I had a few breaks I grab food and go to the airport usually a 30-45 min wait I make sure it’s a little backed up to have time to eat and walk around a little . My back hurts after 4-6 hiurs and if I walk ten min every few hours I can work 10-13 hours . AnywAy $318 divided by 12.5 is 25.44 an hiur . That was a very good night and tips were high there were no surges at all the only promotion was the $60 trip bonus . If you figure 10 hours because I literally surfed walks and ate for 2 hours and really only half an hiur of inbetween downtime I didn’t want so let’s say 10.5 . $318 at 10.5 hiurs is $30.28 an hour . If you figure just gas and not wear and tear I spent $33 on gas so 509 minus $33 is $476 divided by 10.5 dsplit the difference between drive time and online time I made 45 bucks an hiur !my worst 12 hour shift I drove 279 miles made $290 and spent $29 on gas . So $261 minus mileage deduction $161 I really only made $100 for 12 hours and that’s only $8.33 an hiur. Gas only no wear and tear I made $21.75 an hiur . In the end I probably average $18 an hiur after $0.58 mileage deduction . I’m not to worried abiut it I have a Toyota 1.8cyl and sold them for 10 years as a car salesman . They can do 400,009 miles no problem might have water pump go out of fuel pump I have taken them in with 660,009 miles and they still ran great . I have the right car for doing Uber
