Thanks for the tutorial! May I ask how you managed to make the character art pop out smoothly in that panel with the king and queen? I always struggle with doing those no matter if I use the CSP frame tool or just the regular rectangles...
@DrawnbyYannan3 жыл бұрын
Oh good question. Okay, so you have your lineart layer, the panel lines layer, and the white panel layer. Basically what I did was I put the lineart layer as the topmost layer temporarily, then I erased the lines and white parts of the panels that overlapped with the lineart. If you use the fill bucket tool but select the little transparency button (right under where your colors are) you can use the fill bucket as an eraser and that makes it even easier. After that, I moved the lineart layer below. If you find that some of the white is still covering the lineart, then you can just copy and paste the lineart layer and put that part on the top of the white layer. Hope that helped - it's a little hard to explain in only words!

I got confused when you said that you just copy & paste your thumbnail sketches into a pre-saved file 1:27 I’m trying to learn how to use the new Webtoon feature in Clip Studio. I don’t know yet how to properly set up the file so that it’s suitable for Webtoon. What canvas dimensions do we need to use? If I want to make the length of the canvas longer in order to add more panels to an episode, how can I do that? How should we set up the workspace in order to work on a Webtoon comic and keep all of the sections together? When exporting the slices of the Webcomic into jpegs, do we have to reduce the size in order to upload them successfully into Webtoon? For example, I like to work between 300 to 600 DPI (since that’s helpful if I ever decide to print my comic). Will this affect the size of the jpegs I export and make them too large for Webtoon? These are some very basic things that I want to learn how to do in Clip Studio but I can’t find any videos that cover the basics for creating a Webtoon comic. I would appreciate some guidance on these things. Thank you 🙏🏻

Hey these are good questions and a lot of people ask me them in the comments - Its a bit too much for me to answer all in one comment but I'll answer the first one and I plan on having a video in the next month or two that covers more of your questions since a lot of people are wondering! You can have multiple files open on clip studio like you have tabs on a web browser. I have one that has my thumbnails and then one that I have all my layers that I like to use saved. Then I use the select tool and copy and paste one column of the thumbnails into the other file and I'll save it as episode 1 part 1 or something like that. Rinse and repeat for all the sections. I do it this way because when I started using clip studio I didn't have the special webtoon feature and it worked just fine for me.

@@DrawnbyYannan Thank you for replying to my comment 😊 I guess it’s the more technical stuff that I’m stuck at. I’d really like to learn how to use the new Webtoon features that Clip Studio recently added. It’s very cool that they dedicated features specifically for Webtoon creators.

Hello ma'am I don't know if I missed something but when you posted it to webtoon, does it make those cut layers connected or clipped to each other thus why you only need to roll through the screen to read? Or do you clip it directly to clip studio?
@DrawnbyYannan3 жыл бұрын
Im not sure I understand your question but you should save the file as a .jpg before you upload it to Webtoons. You should also save it as a .clip as a backup, but you need to flatten the file into a single image before uploading to Webtoons.

Haha it was on my to do list to watch a video about comic creation- perfect timing 😂 the biggest problem for me is I don’t understand how to do webcomic style layout- it always feels like it’s too smashed together or doesn’t flow right. What drawings do I add vs leave out? I can draw a picture no problem, but for whatever reason comics are basically impossible for me.😅
@DrawnbyYannan3 жыл бұрын
Ah you're talking about the storyboarding process! It's tricky. I would do two things: read about storyboarding in animation to learn about different types of frames so you can familiarize yourself with them. Secondly, I would start off with just doing a short story so you can get a feel for the vertical flow. Pretty much every episode I need to go back and edit it a second time and add some more space between panels after I've previewed it on Webtoons, though I've gotten better about this w practice!
@BlooGhost3 жыл бұрын
@@DrawnbyYannan I’m not terrible at story boarding- (I’m in my second year of animation school- story boarding has been one of my favorite classes actually!) I think it’s just the verticality that throws me off, and with comics you don’t need, and really can’t, emphasize every subtlety in the way you can with animation. Or at least that’s been my experience. Did you start out doing short stories? Maybe I’ll try making an old fable into a webtoon or something for practice.
@DrawnbyYannan3 жыл бұрын
@@BlooGhost oh, well, in that case you have a leg up on everybody! I actually think the vertical scroll can give you a lot of the same effects as animation - for example if I want to emphasize an action or movement I'll just copy and paste the frame a few times but change the action slightly each time like you might in animation. My first webtoon was a short story and it really helped me get a feel for the medium! I think you'll find that you like it. 😊
