Hey :) i'm a professional photographer and i would recommend to not use f 8 - 11 instead i would go there and look what is my open aperture and shut down twice. So if I have 1.8 which is often the case if you bought a 50 mm lens you go close the aperture by 2 so its 2.2 for the best sharpness of the picture. In photography you think in layers and a drawing mostly all on the same layer so you dont need a higly closed aperture i hope this makes sense :) greetings! I love your art and your videos :)

@@b.cormier I second this advice. This is pretty much true that most lense are sharpest at two to three stops down.

jpegs by their nature have compression built into them. For artwork you should save a copy as uncompressed TIF files. Then you can make duplicates for file size, sharing, posting. It is much easier to make smaller versions later on than trying to add quality. So get one "master" copy.

9:48 TIFF is better for high quality prints and it's the professional format for printing. Jpg or jpeg originally was used to have smaller files to fit on diskettes. So this format packs the data with every new saving, so data gets lost along the way.

Since I’m based in EU, I have had to use Prodigi. The colour shift was shocking. Prints were dull and dark, although I followed their instructions to colour management. Then I came across a local drapery that also happens to print billboards and signs for small businesses in the area. They did a test run of the same files I had sent to Prodigi, and the result was amazing. And they are damn cheap compared to those international fine art drop shipping companies. Can’t still believe my luck considering I’m based in a rural area
@b.cormier Жыл бұрын
Yeah it can be a hit or miss with Prodigi! I think it has something to do with what facility it's printed at... for example I received some from the UK that looked great, but then received some printed in the Netherlands and they were very dull (had to request a reprint). That's so awesome you found a local printer who gets the job done well! So much better that way 🙌

This is so helpful! Thank you for sharing your process. I have thought about making prints of my work a thousand times but it feels overhwelming - so much technical and logistical know-how required, at least for me as a very analogue person. One question, what is the white surface that you used as a backdrop for your work? I've seen them but I didn't know to use it for photographing work. Any tips on that? DIY or buy? Thank you!

I'll be great if you made a video about how to use lightroom and photoshoot more in depth to remove unwanted shadows and stuff. I'm so lost with lightroom and photoshop. Not sure where you are but beautiful garden. Mine is too hard to handle with such a big yard time to downsize and simplify so I can focus on my art. I’m a little confused in the video they were talking about sharpness and the F stops two or three stops down was one comment and then somebody said blurriness over F 11 so I’m not sure what they’re saying again, I’m learning the camera stuff because I’ve been more focused on other things like marketing and specific online printers so that I could at least start and grow. The video is packed full of knowledge I used to have a icon, but I know that there are a lot of canon printers out there and I’m thinking staying with a canon vibe would make things easier for all of my other purchases to work while together, what digital program do you put your photos on to look at Adobe? as far as color correction, I’ve seen various comments about color checker. Is that a program or is that just a little screen that you can overlay to check?

For shooting videos of your painting process in the studio or your photos inside, do you rely on natural light or do you have extra lights? if so, which kind?
