This is the traditional oyster stew made in Maryland and Delaware and the Chesapeake Bay area since at least the 1920s in family homes. I've loved it all my life! 🤗

It looks good, but I’m sure it will be perfect with potatoes bell peppers, and carrots that would be oyster stew. Thanks for the idea. You gotta make a stew to stick to your ribs.😊

Thanks for posting this. Never having made oyster stew before, I went looking for a recipe. What I found were recipes based on the assumption that it was being prepared for the queen of England and her entire staff ... when all I wanted was a simple bowl of oyster stew for myself. You and your simplicity is appreciated.

I would do about 5 or 6 cans but the more oysters the better it taste. It's really up to how many you like.

Love it. Try new England clam chowder. Idaho white potatoes. Sauteed onions. Plus, cream of mushrooms. I prefer raw oysters. Soak in butter, onions, white potatoes. Simmer. Stir frequently.
