This is only the second video from your channel that I have ever watched, and I am amazed that you know how to do things like forage wild berries that are actually edible or make beautiful vessels from wild clay. I feel completely inadequate when I see you do these things, but your videos are so well done and cozy that I subscribed. I cannot wait to see more. Thank you for sharing.

What clay! Such beautiful color it had in it's raw state I am absolutely mesmerized about the earth underneath us and the large variety it holds. I've been wanting to do this too for a long time, this summer perhaps I'll do it after seeing your super easy furnace that you can leave overnight like, aaa. genius. And oh, almost forgot, not only was the clay wonderful but your creation too, seemingly perfect for it's cause. Love the mountains on it, not too much, not too little just *chefs kiss*

Thanks for sharing this. My friends and I just collected a handful of wild clay and we’re excited to start working with it! This video was very insightful for my next steps. I live in Michigan and it’s so interesting how the earthenware here is grey/grayish-blue/grayish-green. Not a lot of iron in this clay resulting with a look not like the classic red or orange earthenware!

You could crush the dried clay to powder and sieve it before you add water. You'd need to wear a protective mask, but it's much less messy.

Hi there, thanks so much for sharing this! We have had some massive flooding and slips here in NZ and there is literally wild clay everywhere that has been cleared from roads and properties. I'm keen to have a go at processing some of it. How did your firing tests go? Any chance you could share about the Temps you used? Cheers, Lexi

hey there Mutsa, thanks for posting your process. I am starting to harvest wild clay, and I'm wondering if you could give me a hint on where to find it and or how to know which substrates are suitable for this process? I live in a mountainous region with some lakes and rivers. I've collected some samples of stuff that looks like mud , but sometimes it ends up drying into more sandy material. Your hints would be super valuable. Thanks :)

Hmmm, I use a lot more water, enough so that the sand and stones sink to the bottom. I pour off the liquid then I add a flocculant to settle the clay, and discard the water and other gunge. Then the rest of the process is very similar.
@violetlight813820 күн бұрын
How I process wild clay is easier. I put the clay in bucket with a lot of water and then I have a sieve that sits nicely on another bucket that is 80 mesh and I strain it through that. Then I let it settle for days and the water rises to the top while the clay to the bottom. I pour off as much water as I can and keep doing this until it's mostly poured off. Then the clay can be transferred to a plaster batt or whatever you want. Let it dry more and knead.
