Hey Andrew, sorry to come off as this but back in April, Fluffle Puff (who used your iconic song for their video) got exposed for having predatory relationship with 2 minors for over a decade. im sorry if you're finding out about this but i just wanted to let you know that someone who used your song is a very disgusting person and you have full right to revoke their permission for your song, i also hope you can spread awareness regarding the situation considering Fluffle is unfortunately getting away with it once again.

⭐️👋 I was a musician for almost 20 years before losing a lot of my library. Then I worked a job in data backup and recovery, and while I can say the rabbit hole can go deeper, I too landed on using a Synology NAS at home. There are more affordable models than what Andrew shows here. A 6 bay (~$1000) will do you A LOT especially with RAID 6 so you don’t have to own 2 boxes. To get maximum performance you do need hard wired ethernet to your machine which he mentioned-thank you Andrew for explaining all this to the average person. This was a perfect sponsor. Reliable data storage is the most important thing we can invest in as musicians. Don’t lose your stuff!

Dude, this is such a great video. To start at the end, I absolutely loved your book. So many celebrity/influencer creator books are overhyped and half-assed, but the care you put into yours, and the genuine and super useful advice you were willing to share really shined. I read the hardcover, then listened to you read the audiobook driving around half a year later, and I feel like it's done really good things for my creative practice. And this video is totally on brand, or in line with the book. You're really taking us into the nitty-gritty of your practice, showing us the polished and not-so-polished bits, and giving away gems of advice that other people would charge for or jut keep to themselves. Thanks a lot for sharing this, Andrew; I appreciate ya.

19:46 there are other ways to do it, sony vegas is infamously basically a DAW because they took all the code from acid 5.0 (the sony DAW) and slapped video functionality on top, so it has midi, VST loading, and a whole host of other things. it's pretty annoying to actually make a full track in though because everything is synced to frames instead of beats so unless your tempo cleanly divides into 30fps you will have problems. i remember there's also video functionality in ableton but i forget how it works.

It does a little more like adding borders or cropping your layer as a mask but it’s a bit more complicated. Also their way of choosing which part of the screen your clip should be seems way faster and easier than choosing a number from a dropdown list. As someone who made a Fusion plugin before I can’t wrap my head around how they made the buttons rearrange dynamically based on the chosen number of rows and columns. Really excited for their plugin as it would be far easier and faster for most split screen jobs

Hey Andrew. Could you show a deeper dive of the audio routing while you film? I've been scratching my head about how to record audio for video while simultaneously recording for a song project. I can't quite tell what you're doing in detail in that section of the video.
@andrewhuang6 күн бұрын
The setup will depend on your exact audio software but essentially tracks are routed to sends (so that they’re duplicated and/or grouped) and those sends are routed to audio interface outputs which are then routed to audio recorder inputs

18:08 I actually just started doing this where I have a layer over my entire project that I delete before render that's a 2.39:1 crop as well as keeping all titles within a 3/5th ratio from the edges. Like if the frame is chopped up into 5 vertical sections, my titles and junk will only be in the middle three sections and never touch the outer edges. So if people are watching on mobile and pinch to zoom with an 18:1 or 19:1 aspect ratio phone, or desktop users with a 16:10 or 21:9 ultrawide monitor and use an extension that zooms in the video to fill the entire display, the text will never be cut off so the upper and lower sections outside of a 2.39:1 crop or the outer 1/5th edges of my videos are always dead space. I only show the actual content within that crop, but then remove the mask before render so it's still a full 16:9 video but titles and other info are never removed when being zoomed in on different devices or display types. This is a very important thing I'm glad you mentioned because a LOT of people need to start doing this.

Editing is such a headache. We've started doing a weekly KZbin show, but it's completely unedited because it's all improvised so we don't want cuts. That way we can't be accused of cheating. We would like to make more standard videos with editing and effects, but it's so much to learn.

Hi Andrew, regarding the big headaches that having to record audio tracks in zoom and also in pro tools gives you: have you ever thought of including the timecode already in the daw and using it to put in Sync later?
