Yay! I’m not crazy! 🙌🏼 I’m in my first kidding season as a new goatherdess, and I figured your method out on my own 😅 I have Lamanchas, which are very high producers. I kept noticing in the morning that their bags were SO FULL and looked uncomfortable. I would milk them out some into the ground to relieve them, but quickly realized, “wow! This is a lot of wasted milk!” So I just started milking them out in the mornings, without separating the babies at night. So far it seems like a great set up; I get about a gallon or more a day, and the kids still have PLENTY to eat. They are going a month old now, and thriving! All in all, I love this method! New goat-owner APPROVED! Lol thanks again Delci! 💜

This is sweet!! I have been nursing for 8 years straight- while pregnant and even tandem. It seems that care of goats while nursing is similar in many ways as how I do it for myself. 😂

Lol you’ll need a goat when you are done nursing in...how many years do you think it will be? That’s amazing you’ve been nursing that long! You have an amazing body! I meant to comment on your last video. But I watched it late at night and was going to bed and I just didn’t. But I’ve been using frownies for a couple months now and love them way better than the other plastic kind. I frown when I sleep and that’s really bad LOL but I did order that skin stuff you mentioned and will be getting it next week so thanks for that tip! Now I need to make this comment on your channel LOL

I totally agree with your milking routine. I milk my herd in the same manner, once a day. I believe the kids & their mothers benefit from being kept together on many levels. I have found my kids actually grow twice as fast than bottle fed babies. The bond the mom & kid share is so beneficial as well. Im happy too, because Im not tied down milking twice a day and can do other things in my life. So a good situation for us all ! Thanks for sharing your video with us ! 😊

I am currently milking two of my does. I separate their kids off at night, milk in the morning, then give the kids back to them for the day. Milking once a day is the best for me, and separating the kids off at night works the best too. Hope you are getting good moisture this year. Last year was very dry and scary for lots of livestock folks. Rain makes everything better. Thanks for all the information you give us. It's nice to know there are others with the same interests and walking the same type of journey as I am with my goats.

I don't like to milk twice a day either. We don't consume a lot of milk. Right now we get between three cups to a quart each morning. I also like to keep the girls on momma longer. Right now we only have two milkers. BTW, I contacted you a while back about a kid who was pooping white poops. Vet said it wasn't anything to be concerned about and tested negative for e-coli. She ended up dying at about 3 weeks. She still weighed about what she weighed at birth. Still have no answers as to what the problem was. The boy is thriving and strong. (As they always are.) At any rate, I appreciate this video. I don't think I would have much milk from momma if I didn't separate at night.

I am so sorry about losing your little one! Sometimes there is something wrong inside that could never have been made right 😕 And yeah, with a couple of mine I wouldn’t get much milk either from them with the kids on. It really depends on the goat and how much they are capable of producing

@@DelcifromALifeofHeritage I wondered if milking them out every morning would increase the milk because there is a demand? At any rate, I found it very interested that you don't separate kids. Worth a try, right?
@DelcifromALifeofHeritage3 жыл бұрын
@@hickoryhillinthebigwoods-r759 yes! It definitely will increase their milk supply the more you milk. And separating kids at night and milking before you let them in with mom will give you more too. I get enough without the hassle of separating so I just do that 😊

Proverbs 27:23-27 NLT Know the state of your flocks, and put your heart into caring for your herds, [24] for riches don't last forever, and the crown might not be passed to the next generation. [25] After the hay is harvested and the new crop appears and the mountain grasses are gathered in, [26] your sheep will provide wool for clothing, and your goats will provide the price of a field. I'm in Texas. This past spring there was no hay available. Winter was so bad that last year's supply ran out before this year's first cutting. The grass/weeds hadn't started growing much. It was really rough. I bought goat pellets to feed them, cut tree branches, did whatever I could think of. It was rough but survived. Then when a truck of alfalfa showed up at the feed store, did happy dance. As for the naughty goat problem, the door/gate to my milk stall is broken thanks to the goats. Talk about a nightmare.
