i just came across your channel. how’s the afr dosing doing? after years doing 2-part, i’m gonna dip my hands into afr and maybe kalk later. any noticeable difference in color and growth of corals? i actually have the items like the x1, casa strip, and a mag stirrer ready. i’m following a similar path as you.

Well I can't keep torches in this tank but everything else seems to be doing well. I haven't tested in a while and I haven't done a water change in a couple months... I would say it works well but the only way to tell if it's working would be for me to test and I am just not that into my tanks much anymore... I might sell this one this week or next so I won't have it anymore. I will only have the 80 gal going forward. Hope you have luck!

Looks good, i just dose my 8ml all at once with my kamore pump, instead of small doses throughout the day. AFR is a calcium formate and gets broken down by bacteria for your corals to use, depends on the tank but its not a fast process, could be a couple hours or a full day, it really depends. So doing a slow all day dose wont get you the same results as just dosing that at one time. I tested calcium and alk every other day till i got my desired levels.

Yeah I heard it clogs up the end of the dosing line so that is why I wanted a more consistent stream. You think dosing it in small amount will change much?

I dose it once a day as well and have had no issues with it clogging. Just check the tip of the line periodically when doing maintenance. When I initially started using it I did try smaller doses but noticed 1. No change in results 2. I had to use more AFR to get the same alkalinity as once a day.

Watch out for calcification on the end of the dosing line sometimes I have to break the crust off or the pressure shoots the line off my dosing line holder.

Yeah that is why I wanted to dose spreading it out through the day but I heard it may be bad to do that?

@@CO.Reefing It will definately crust up like alj said. I run my rodi top off over the dosing lines to keep them rinsed off automatically ... Also weigh the afr to measure it

I have seen people weigh it but if they say a scoop should work then I think I am not that far off from the weight. That is a good idea on the ato line over it. mine sits where I won't be able to do that but i'll just clean that every 2 weeks when I do maintenance. @@82thegonz
