How I mix My 909 Drum Sounds

Here is how i mix my 909 drums or any drum patterns for that matter.
I dont spend hours agonising over a single sound. I just get on with it and use as little as possible.
Less is more and you too can use this approach when mixing down your drums.

I'm about your age, and I see it the same way as you do (or similar*smile*): Edit as little as possible, the samples have to be right from the RAW start. I'm even a bit more conservative when it comes to EQ'ing *smile*. The problem nowadays is simply that you can do too much in the DAW. This tempts many artists to tweak too many events too quickly. Unlike many other videos on youtube, I see it this way: Slow down the production process! Because I myself am always tempted by the DAW, I've clearly separated music creation from mixing: I've put my MPC4000 back into operation and brought out the JV-2080, Korg M1 and MS2000! And I have more than enough sounds! I uninstalled NI Komplete as well as other software synths and it was a real liberation! The focus is now much more on making music. After the Creative Process i record into Reaper and Mix the Track in the old fashion way: As good Track Levelling as it's get BEFORE using any FX or parallel Processing. When it don't sit right RAW, then something is Wrong!😅For me (that's true for me, for you it can be completely different!) 2 words have eliminated my blockade when making music: 1) Slow-Down, 2) Simplify. you are right, too many plug ins and stuff can slow you down. like you i am from the old skool . people forget that the best house tracks were made on very simple gear. keep it raw. :)

Hey, really nice old school early 90's vibe to the main dubby sounding hook/chords. Love it, nice one! Although I'm thinking it sounds very familiar, what did you use (if you did) as your inspiration for the hook? Almost reminds me of Landlord - I like it for some reason. Whats your thoughts on trying to make the Landlord synth patch from I like (blowout dub). Any Ideas on how one would try make/recreate it within a VST themselves ?
