I’m going through a lot of the same things you are right now... buying my first home alone, having a lot of changes with work, so many tabs open constantly and anxiety constantly rushing through me. Walks with my pup and writing things down is really what is helping me as well. I feel like we’re both on this journey together and you’re just telling me your problems and I’m like, “YES SAME.” Much love, sunshine is just over the hill 💗
@cheskamejico57004 жыл бұрын
When you said you weren't able to get the things you 'needed' done then corrected yourself and said those were things you 'wanted' to get done, I really felt that. Sometimes we put too much pressure on ourselves to stick to our mile-long to-do lists and then beat ourselves up when we can't get all of it done, not realizing we were that nobody really is forcing us to do all that, that it was us expecting too much from ourselves. As someone with bipolar disorder, I have the compulsion to control every single aspect of my life. I have lists for everything and when I don't get to do all of them, I feel like a failure and spiral into a black hole of emotions. I am slowly learning to differentiate what I want and what I need and not feel bad about things I can't control. Your stories about how you manage your anxiety and this whole journey you've been on is really such an inspiration. 😊

I'm curious to know how you feel about living with less "stuff" and in a smaller space. What do you miss the most? Is it leaving you feeling you can life a more minimal lifestyle? Have you been able to find what is important to you, the must haves and the nice to haves? I'm totally envious of that view you have, and I hope Bentley feels better soon.

😂 my head off at 1:57 when you’re talking about slowing down using such rapid speech that it’s hard to keep up with you! A very good way to start slowing down is by slowing down your speech - at first it will feel very artificial but if you keep it up you’ll find that slowing your speech will in turn slow your thoughts so that you can think more clearly and more logically, as well as concentrate on what you want to prioritise, rather than jumping from thought to thought or from idea to idea all the time. I live in a big, fast-paced city (London, UK) where it’s rush rush rush all the time so I love to get out to the countryside and am always working on finding new ways to slow down, too. I used to speak very fast (though still not quite as fast as you are at 1:57!) but had to make a conscious effort to talk more slowly when I first became a primary school teacher. Teaching 5-6 yr olds forced me to slow down and speak much more slowly, clearly and deliberately. I found it had a big impact on my pupils as well. At that age they can get over-excited very quickly and because they are having to adjust from basically playing all day in kindergarten to having a full school week with all the different subjects, school could easily become exhausting for them as well as overwhelming, provoking them to anger or even reducing them to tears. By speaking slowly and clearly to them, I not only calmed myself as a newly qualified teacher, I also calmed them down too. In fact, on my final day at my first school, one of the other teachers commented on my demeanour, saying she’d never met another teacher who was never frazzled or stressed and always so calm! Of course it was sometimes an act, and I often felt stressed or frazzled, but by keeping up the act for the sake of my pupils I found myself getting far less stressed and overwhelmed by life than I ever had previously. So just a tip from me - start speaking more slowly, calm your mind and your racing thoughts, and you’ll find that then you can really slow down and reap the benefits of a slower, calmer and gentler pace of life. After all, what’s the point in rushing everything when you can slow down and smell the roses? You’ll find that you are even more appreciative of the small moments than you are already, you’ll have a better chance of noticing things and of enjoying them. And last but not least, you’ll create a much calmer aura for yourself and a much more pleasant atmosphere around you, which others will be able to benefit from too! So I highly recommend trying to slow your speech and your mind first - otherwise you’ll find yourself trying to slow your life down while still going a hundred miles an hour inside, which will just make you feel frustrated by the slower pace. So good luck on your journey to a slower pace of life and a slower YOU - I couldn’t recommend it more highly! 😊 xx

We use a spray called septiderm and we get it from petco but I’m sure you can get it shipped really quickly if you don’t have petco there. This stuff is AMAZING it’s kind of a numbing spray but a lot more natural than a lot of the other options out there. Literally will have them stop itching in thirty seconds or so and lasts for quite a while. Just shake a bit before you spray. My dog is allergic to fleas and this really does wonders to keep her from making huge spots from itching and she gets so much calmer instantly so I know it’s really making her feel better. Good luck!!

since you travel with bentley a lot, there's a collar you can get for him that repels fleas and ticks ! They have it at petsmart and sometimes petvalu. I get one for my dog during the summer and for whenever he's around other dogs, and it's worked wonders. Even if he somehow got some fleas before you put the collar on, it will prevent more from jumping on and will slowly kill them off :)

We just moved from Los Angeles to Tennessee (in the country). Love it, but the downside is there are more flea and tick issues to deal with. Be mindful of checking him if he runs through long grass for ticks. We use a Ceresto (not sure of spelling, sorry) for our dogs, and have not had problems. You may want to ask in a pet store about those. We have never found baths to be very helpful for getting rid of fleas. Hope that helps.

You should look into monthly flea medication for Bentley! It's the best thing honestly to have your dog on a regular flea medication schedule and its usually only one pill once a month and it'll be good for him now that he's going to be out in nature more. It might make him sleepy the day he takes it but hopefully will prevent discomfort
