Thanks! I also don't use compression sacks. I've found that just stuffing sleeping bags and clothes in actually reduces the "dead space" that you often get around compression sacks, so you can fit more into your pack :)

Two questions... how did you get those rounded corners on the zlite so perfect, and do you hang your food in the shopping bag? It seems like most people either hang or rely on the opsac.

@@CoteziHikes I always slept with a snack until lately. Would highly recommend hanging food now. It helps everyone out bc bears are becoming drawn towards the frequently used trails (CO). They can smell a tic-tac. Very much becoming a problem with the increased visitation and hiking in our state.

I think it does the job. I shoot w a neutral color profile w it (not raw) so that I have some flexibility w color grading in post. I played around a bit w the T7i for a bit before hesitantly deciding on the m50. I like dslrs better but they’re so hugeeee.

@dylanbrown8594 жыл бұрын
This is a great video! I love how you pack your zlite but I do have one question: what draws you to the Pa’lante as opposed to something bigger like a ks40 seen as it only weighs an ounce or so more? It looked like the Pa’lante was almost full.

Hey I thought I invented that fanny pack trick. 😅 I have a lumbar pack from KS gear and a smaller pack that I nestle on top. I like cotopaxi, too. They have some fair market ideals and colorful things. I also have the very same A ltras in that greenish / orange combo shown in the pre hike video. Older model. Hiking 2-3 hours a day in them.... preparing for a long haul!

Have you (or anyone else for that matter) had any issues with carrying your pack (as a carry on) along with your trekking poles? TSA almost didn't allow me to carry on my trekking poles on a trip out to Oregon back in March of this year (2020). I might have mentioned that I had to use them due to a feigned disability .... aka a bummed leg ;) They weren't going to let me take them until i uttered the work "disability" !

What do you do if you have a wet tent. Do you still put it next to your sleeping bag
@CoteziHikes5 жыл бұрын
If the tent gets wet it’s fine cuz it goes inside it’s own cubes fiber bag before I put it in my pack. But yeah on any other hike I usually would have my pack lined with a tall trash bag just didn’t really think I’d need it on this hike.

Hi Cotezi, I was just made aware of a vegan meal company (dried) called Leafside. The meals, smoothies, breakfast bowls look delicious at 7.99 apiece. I'm going to try a few out. I also build my own or supplement meals with greens and fruit powders from Znaturals.... they have bulk that makes it affordable. I get my chaga there. Best wishes.

Hey Cotezi, sweet packing. What if your tent, the Plexamid, is wet? Does the stuff sack keep the water from seeping into your down sleeping bag directly below your wet tent? I also learned a few good techniques from this vid too. Hey what is that sweet yellow top you are wearing? It looks super comfy and warm! Blue Boy
@CoteziHikes5 жыл бұрын
hi! yeah the cubes fiber stuff sack the tent comes in is waterproof so when the tent gets wet I just have to shake it out a bit but once it's in the sack it doesn't get anything else wet. the top is the crew sweater from Melanzana :) Thanks!
@BlueBoyBackpacking5 жыл бұрын
@@CoteziHikes Thanks Cotezi. I have a blue (of course) Plexamid too but I did not realise it was seam sealed. Will have to remember that. Oh cool, a Melanzana Crew sweater, boy they make some good tops don't they. Will have to look at getting one to try some time. Hey, I know how this works and how nice it feels to get specific positive feedback so this is what I liked about your video and what new tips I got out of it. 1) For low volumn frameless pack cut off and round off corners of foam pad and line pack on three sides to create structure - very cool Cotezi, I like ! 2) Compression / Stuff Sacks Suck and slow your packing process way too much. I have heard this many times but when you verbalised that it just slows you down and its another painful step to go through to stuff your sleeping bag into a compression bag etc - I went - Bazinga! Thats so true. I am so slow to pack up my gear from camp - often the last person - I have way too many steps, bags, compression sacks etc. Thanks for the clarity 3) Food bag - just a plastic shopping bag - I love that - its so much fast, more flexible and practical way to contain your food. I have realised I hate roll top bags of all kinds. 4) The way you fold your packs roll top - rather than clip it and roll it - Its so much faster and makes you more likely to go into and out of the top of your bag as you skip the labour intensive unrolling, then rolling up again. 5) Fanny pack as a load bearing mechanism for your pack - Brilliant girl! Thumbs up. You are a smarty! Love it all. Thanks again - Blue Boy Ultralight. Can't wait for your next video on the topic of..... ! lol - nice
