Thanks for this video. I have the 2400 and I put my bear vault also inside but I have the pods that fit the pack so a pod then canister stuff things around it then another pod on top fits perfectly and comfortably.So large pod on bottom holds sleeping bag then small pod on top with clothing , small electronics bag, small first aid and toiletries bag, small misc all placed around canister.

Just found your channel, great to see you doing the JMT. I grew up a few miles from JM's birth place in Dunbar, Scotland and grew up with stories about him and his love for nature. I hope to do the JMT one day but for now the Scottish JMT will do. I'm setting out on the West Highland Way next week which is a 100 mile hike which should take a 6-7 days but I can't wait. Look forward to seeing your updates dude. Stay safe :)

That panel is going to be shaded somewhat by the angle of the sun, in the direction you are going. Check out "Easy Trail" videos on youtube. They had theirs mounted in the best spot, and still could only add about 20% to battery capacity.

Great video Bigfoot. If you ever do another video like this again, you may want to try placing a GoPro on a tripod to get a nice top-down view of you pack as you position gear.

I was looking to buy one but none are for sale on Amazon, EBay or elsewhere as of 6/21.

Was wondering why you didnt just stuff your quilt in the bottom to take up the dead space and then bear canister on top? Cheers for video.

Super helpful. So, you don't use a pack liner? Is that because your pack is water resistant?

You don't keep your stove, canister, or pot in the bear canister?

Thank you for making this video! Do you think that an HMG 2400 would fit the same loadout? I'm looking to get either the 3400 or 2400, and I'm not sure if I'd put a BV500 inside or outside the pack.

Wow that pack looks light but painful. I love my Gregory Balmoral too much to give it up. But then I'm 6,4 my shell, Fleece and one pair of socks weighs more then your whole pack! LOL

If you put your food in that canister the bear wont smell the food that’s in it? Also do you need to hang it? If dont need to hang, where do I put my bear canister when I get to the camp?
@FollowBigfoot5 жыл бұрын
I have been told that a bear can smell it. You do not need to hang it. I typically put it about 100 feet from where I sleep. Make sure you put it in an area that, if a beer does find it, it’s not going to roll off a cliff or mountain if they try to play with it to get into the canister
@outdoorsywannabe18885 жыл бұрын
Follow Bigfoot - if they can just make an odor proof canister so the bear wont come at all.
@johnhart4264 жыл бұрын
Never hang your bear vault. Hide it between rocks or under brush and away from water or cliff.
