Everything he’s saying in this video is spot on... If you’re on the edge on taking the test, best advice is to JUST TAKE IT. I completely put it off for years, until one day I scheduled to take all the tests. Passed 3/4 test. Missed math by 2 points...my brain was a bit fried from all the reading before I got to the math section. I took 2 practice math test, then went to take the real test again, I guessed on a lot of the stuff I didn’t know like he says in the video, I guess what I know outweighed what I didn’t like he says, and I passed it by 12 points more. JUST . GO. AND. GET. IT. OVER. WITH

I’m a GED teacher. I’ve been helping adults, young and old, pass the test for almost 20 years. This video is pretty much real and the advice is solid. A lot of people I’ve helped-most of my students basically-will tell you the same thing about the tests. However, Mr Garcia-Garth here does a very good job breaking it down. I’m sure the “No Studying” part hooked people into watching, but I’d say he lied! He actually did study quite a bit! The time he took to research and prepare for the tests, the obvious planning and thought put into it, not to mention previous education in school or in life, that all counts as “studying” and it probably made the difference. Here are 5 thoughts for people watching this who are thinking about taking the GED tests and wondering if they can pass them. 1. Check first to make sure you’re in a state that uses the GED for High School Equivalency. There are other tests out there now (HiSET and TASC) and the tests and rules differ by state in the U.S. 2. Like the man says, take a practice test before you schedule the official test! It’s not too expensive and you can do it on your computer at home. Afterwards, use the score report to focus your preparation for the real thing. 3. Don’t just buy an expensive book or study program and expect it to work if you’re the kind of person who doesn’t have the patience and discipline to study on your own. And watch out for scams offering quick GED results and easy diplomas. They’re all over the Internet and they’re worthless. They just want to take your money. 4. You can do it on your own, but it’s easier if you get help and get guidance. A lot of young guys especially have a tough time asking for help when it comes to school and things they’re not good at. I’d just say don’t let your pride stop you. If you find you can’t pass on your first try, look for a class (a lot of them are free, offered in-person or online) or find a tutor. 5. I make my livelihood teaching GED (and I love it) but I’ll be the first to tell you: passing the tests is NOT the same as getting a High School education! What I’m saying is that real learning, a strong knowledge base and the ability to think clearly and critically, can be measured somewhat by a test, but it’s much more than a passing score. Being an educated person has so many benefits socially, psychologically, and economically. The thing is getting an education takes time... years and years! So you can probably get the GED tests done in a month or two if you have a solid foundation in school and at least an 8th grade reading and math level, but the degree you receive is a just a piece of paper unless it represents the lived experience of earning an education. To Mr Garcia-Garth: I appreciate this video, your honesty and the time you took to make it. I congratulate you on achieving the milestone and sincerely hope you use the GED as a key to open doors to future opportunities. Last thought: >>> IF YOU’RE IN HIGH SCHOOL NOW AND THINKING ABOUT DROPPING OUT AND TAKING THE GED, GIVE IT SOME SERIOUS THOUGHT. It might seem like an easy way out now, but most people I know who’ve done it come to regret their decision. School often sucks, no doubt! but take it from a former dropout, sticking with it *if at all possible* pays off!

Lorenzo, I sincerely thank you for making this video. I've been putting off my GED for years. After ducking and diving the idea for way too long, I recently I joined a GED bridge program at my local community college where I'm acing the tests left and right. I'm like you in the sense where I don't necessarily want to "study", but I will do my due diligence to be prepared. Despite floating through these tests, my confidence in my intelligence and ability to pass has been weak and irrational. I chose to structure a slower route to completion thinking I needed that. I know now that my choice is self sabotaging. Thanks for using your video to help quell some of the fear mongering and self doubt that can come with revisiting education after a long gap... When I slam out these tests and earn that coveted piece of paper, I'll be back with another thank you for helping to tap my brain and put the body in motion. A million blessings to you and your family.

The creator of this video is spot on. 1. Much of the GED exams are reading comprehension tests. If you read for pleasure, you are already studying for the exams. However, I encourage my students to read periodicals or newspapers. They are broken up into pieces. After all, the reading samples within the GED are going to be bite sized. 2. Taking the GED Ready tests are very important. They have the same layout and protocol of the official exams. However, the GED REady tests are simply half the size of the official exams. 3. Get your hands on a TI-30xs calculator. It's the only calculator allowed to be used for the exam. Many testing centers will have some that you can borrow, but it's best to understand how they work ahead of time. There are some quality videos on youtube to walk you through using them.

I am starting to study for my GED. I am so nervous and scared, that I am going to fail. I was home schooled and technically finished school vary early but never went to do my in school testing. Since then I have got brain damage and it caused me to forget so so much. I do not remember almost anything I learn in school, so i am so scared i am going to fail extremely bad and get discouraged. But watching this video and reading everyone comments I am determined to pass.

You got this! You have already taken the first step which is mentally preparing yourself for this journey. You will indeed pass. Just watch some videos to get some stud tips, take those practice exams and knock it out the park!! Even if it doesn’t work out the first time who cares, just keep trying until you get it. You won’t regret it.

My advice to you is tap that shit in if you want to really go to the military. I test for my ged this week I been studying for 2 months non stop day in and out . I have adhd but it doesn't bother me Im very good at controlling it . I also had memory problems and I overcame that by simply giving my education some repetition.
