How I Planned My Wedding in 1 Year (Without A Wedding Planner)

Wedding in Progress, Episode 1:
So you want to plan a wedding... without the help of a professional wedding planner... and not go crazy in the process?
Hehehe fear not, because I did it and I survived. Got a few scars in the process, but my husband and I actually figured this thing out! We had lots of help from family and friends but at the end of the day, it is our wedding and there are just some things we had to figure out ourselves.
Here is how we did it!
This video covers the ins and outs of wedding planning, dealing with wedding vendors, sorting out wedding venues, figuring out my wedding dress, my bridesmaids' looks and so much more!

Having the venue take care of food,decor, security was the best idea ever!!!!! Because those things are the most stressful things during event planning. Kudos to you for peeping the game 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

Omggg hands down best decision ever. At least I saw pics of their decor but I was worried about the food because I didn't have any opportunity to taste it but that's where experience comes in. They did so well with everything and I'm glad I went with them. The director of the hall was a very organised lady. After discussing with her, I knew we were in good hands. Thanks Nebs ❤❤❤

After watching this video, I have only one conclusion: Mutombo is an extremely talented and calculated lady, who thinks of EVERY possible thing down to the LAST DETAIL, who is also very precise/particular in her choices; she seems to always know EXACTLY what she wants. She also seems to be very ( I mean VERY VERY) time conscious, because commencing planning 1 year to the event, getting rings, booking the hall, and the like, well ahead of time? Nahhh, Hats off🙌🏾 I already said it but I'll say it again, she's too talented abeg! Designing invitation cards both digital and physical, wedding dress? I don't know, but the part where she was designing her wedding dress made me giggle a bit. I was just like "this 'girl' is really not leaving any stone unturned😂😂😂" . I thought I was meticulous but I will never in my life call myself meticulous again after this🤣 because what I've seen in this video is the REAL meticulous. Ah ah!🙌🏾 There's always something so refreshing about Mutombo's videos, I couldn't quite put a finger on it before, but today I think I know what it is... It's the way she goes about her stuff. Whether it be wedding preparation or just 'a day in my life' , she just has her own flair to everything, and I think it's so authentic and beautiful.

I feel like African weddings (not just the traditional wedding, but the whole thing) tend to be really big compared to the West e.g Americans.

Congratulations on your union! Love is a beautiful thing. ‘white wedding’ is a traditional European wedding. In post colonial Africa there is really no excuse why African traditional weddings cannot be legally binding.

Thank you so much!! Someone here in the comments actually pointed out that in DR Congo, they don't even allow you to sign the legal marriage documents until you have had the traditional wedding! You've got that right about the white wedding literally being the European trad wedding. We are the ones who find ourselves doing several ceremonies while the West typically has just one. I have actually thought about this a lot. Even had a video idea where I wanted to delve more into the subject. I just might.

One thing I'm learning from this video is decentralisation (I think it's called delegation skills in corporate terms), try to give out as much of the work as you can to save yourself stress but mostly to save time and mitigate the pressure that usually comes with the dying minutes. I often tend to overestimate how much I can handle and then end up struggling to meet expectations towards the end.

I 200% agree!!! With all the delegation I did in this video, I was still overwhelmed on the actual wedding day so for sure, delegation is very important! Let go of the idea that only you can do a specific task right. Imagine me being on the phone with the reverend father trying to figure out bidding prayers on the eve of the wedding when someone actually offered to take that job and I refused because i 'wanted to write my own bidding prayers'. With all the pressure, I had to finally succumb and allow them to help me figure that out. And they did a fantastic job!
