Katie - do you have a review on how it went this year?? I am pretty sure this is what we are doing this year (except we are doing year 1) but I love your videos and practical insights to making it work for your family! Would love yo hear more about this one!

I don’t like a big guide but sometimes it’s helpful!!! I’ve looked at this curriculum and I was overwhelmed!!! I find multiple lists awesome especially with struggling readers who are able to listen and watch books and videos that are too hard for some of them to read!!! I tell my kids when we have hands on learning and they remind me and keep telling me but if they don’t want to do it I don’t get reminded!!! If it’s something I want them to do my brother keeps me accountable and he lives with us with his family and we homeschool his son!!! My nephew is good at reminding me of hands on activities especially this is his 2nd year of homeschooling!!!

It seems like we have all been influenced by Megan @Penniesandsalt this year for history...lol! We started BiblioPlan's Year1 Ancient this year for the first time. I chose it ( after Megan planted the seed and then Wendy watered it ) because I wanted to do ALL the things but had a hard time figuring out when and how. Thankfully, Biblioplan's Lesson Plan book does all the work for me. Praying our year is SUCCESSFUL!!

@m.willow11 I’m coming across this months after it was posted and saw your comment. I’m between mystery of history and biblioplan. Can you tell me which you preferred after doing both? Thanks!

@@jillsalvador8609 this past school year (2023 /24) we used Mystery of History. And loved it so SO much. We all listen to the narrator read the text book together as a group. We have a timeline on the wall that we add pictures to, my middle 2 kids keep a book of centuries ( they enjoy doing it) and everyone writes bullet point notes on an index card for every lesson. Once a week or so, we review the cards. We've done no extra hands on activities or quizzes or tests and my kids have learned Soooo much this year. MOH does an excellent job drawing connections of the given years being studied and how things were playing out AROUND the world.. not just in Europe or the US. For example, we never expected that while studying the Rennaisance, we'd learn about Japan, China, Africa, and Russia! So good!! I wish we were using it again next year but my kiddos wanted a literature based program. After praying for weeks, I decided on Beautiful Feet Books instead of Biblioplan. It just seemed like a better fit and less labor intensive ( biblioplan is a menu u choose from to create what u want..i have 7 kids..it would be a lot for me to manage w so many moving parts). But next year I will have 2 less students ( both graduating) so we might give Bibloplan a try then..unless we absolutely love Beautiful Feet. 😊

My only issue with this curriculum is that their suggested reading lists are too advanced. The recommended reading for my 6th grader, for instance, when I looked them up on on Amazon, they were recommended for adults. Also for my 5th grader. At the library when I pulled some of them, I flipped through and the material would be wayyyy over his head. He’s an advanced reader but their recommendations were way off. Other than that, I think it’s wonderful!

This was so helpful. How long would you say it takes y’all to get through history? How do y’all think y’all will get high school credits for US history, geography, and government, and such? Would that also come from biblioplan? Thank you!

1. We go through a Ch a week with about 20min of reading 3x a week 2. Still working on highschool plans so I don’t have a firm answer but they do have a highschool supplement book if I did want to keep going with it
