This is a great video with lots of clear instructions on tip layering and the steps to take. The explanations are very clear and illustrated with some good video shots. I have done a video of propagating blackberries were I used tip layering. After watching this I will be trying it on my gooseberry. Nice video just subscribed. Thanks.

Thanks! I appreciate the kind remarks! Blackberries respond very well to tip-layering for sure, in fact they can accomplish it on their own quite readily if left unchecked.

i tip layered 80 gooseberries this year. I love them. I did the same thing except in pots. good info on the depth of the plant when replanting, gooseberries is one of few plants that actually does better if its crown is planted under the soil. it causes the plant to send more shoots up. i have a couple different varieties, hinnomaki red being my favourite flavour wise. I tip layered some into 10gallon pots and by the next year they were bigger than the original plant. Hope you have a good harvest, mine are just about ripe here zone 6 Ontario

Thank you! That sounds like a really great idea, with using the pots! I may have to try that. Tip layering 80 gooseberries sounds like a really intense project, that's awesome. Question: Do you have any favorite methods of preserving the fruit for over the winter? In the past, I've just frozen the berries whole and used them that way, but I am interested in exploring some other options. Best of luck with your gooseberry projects, I hope they turn out well!

@terra-blegardeningvideos7573 layering the tips in pots is a bit easier because you don't have to bend them down as far. I havent explored the best way to preserve them. I eat them all fresh. However in another year or two when these gooseberries are established ill have to consider that. They're so good fresh i end up eating them all as they ripen. I just moved last September and plan on setting up a few rows of gooseberry when I get enough rooted. If you find a good method for preservation, make a video on it.
