True, in these small front drive cars, there isn't a lot of space to work with. At least yours isn't a v block design where you would have spark (or glow plugs on a diesel) on the back side of the engine block to have to take out and replace)? So, this is a way to wrap the exhaust pipe around so that it isn't in your line of sight on the drivers side of the car, yet still have that exhaust funnel out the top of the hood. It is different, because usually in turbos, it is the air intake that is a screen or power dome above the hood (usually in gasoline turbos, but sometimes in diesels). These German diesels are far more popular in cars and always have been (probably because their inventor was German himself)? There even was a BMW diesel four cylinder engine in a Lincoln Mark VII back in the mid 1980s but that never really sold well here in the U.S., because mostly larger turbos were fitted and still are in trucks here, so in cars, it is sort of a niche item. Oh, but the mileage that you can get with this car, though because they were rated at 64 mpg. highway (until that overstating scandal that surfaced in the last few years, that is)?

In the UK they are called "volkswagen bora" economy about 54mpg which to be fair isn't bad but due to UK gov laws these are quite different to jettas in the US

What were you're length measurents under the turbo and up? And how much of the stalk downpipe is used?

If you flatten the pipe with a hammer you don’t have to wrap that pipe

Had the same thought, passenger side exit through the fender would be deadly, have to relocate a few things but would be worth it

I got a passat 1.9 tdi with hood stack and it sounds awful because it sounds like vaccuum from exhaust pipe

What country are you in? Because I want to do this in Canada but the laws are pretty firm and cops are iffy, have you gotten any shit/fines from cops?

Were those all custom bent pipes or did you buy them pre bent? And also what was the size on them

2 1/4 I had them bent after I mocked them up with tack welds on some pre bent piping I had
