Reverb was definitely big part of that original sound I hear. Short well-EQd reverb.

Pretty much nailed it. Amazing. Would love more videos like this. No one really does this but it is more educational than most "make big dubstep bass tutorial #4000" or something like that. Recreating sounds shows way better how you archieve certain sounds because you have a clear goal.

Thank you so much for making this video. I know next to nothing about sound design or Logic but feel like I could still follow what you were doing here. I kept thinking "He's done" but then you would make it sound even MORE like the original. That helped me hear nuances I didn't even know were there! Gonna check out the rest of your vids now! Such a helpful video! Thanks. It seems that Serum is really superb for this kind of sound design, especially with all the quality effects on board. I never bothered much with built-in effects in synths, but for sound design it really opens up new spheres.

How do you know what the sound is missing and what qualities are in the original sound that needs to be added to the one you are working on? How did you train your ears to hear those little things? I'm currently working on trying to recreate a kick sound from one of the songs I enjoy but don't even know what is needed to get there.
