I have no experience with goldfish but I do breed and work with different sturgeon species. You can give a heart massage to a sturgeon and it will often work but they are obviously larger than goldfish. However, in my experience I think it's important to note that keeping fish right above air stones is not the best idea. Keep them close to it but not above it. Air trapped in the gills can cause problems to the gills and it's better to hold them close where the water is rich in oxygen but doesn't contain bubbles. Moving them backwards and forward to make water go over the gills also helps. This is not criticism just how I experience it, keep up the good work, I really enjoy the content!

When we first set up our (relatively) massive 90gal tank, we decided to change from over the top filters and instead installed a canister filter with an underwater output. A few hours later, they were all gasping and acting weird. We didn’t have an air pump and it immediately clicked. I don’t remember what I did, but I probably did something to get oxygen temporarily up like disturbing the water a bunch before/while i hauled ass to the store. It happens to the best of us sometimes- head empty.

My ex hated the pump noise for so long but I loved the sound of it to sleep so I won and now he still has that tank in his room and takes care of fish he didn't want to begin with 😅😂 during the summer though I would freeze water bottles and put 5 in at a time because the water would get so warm I was scared it would hurt my fishies... needless to say they all survived and always hung out near them to stay cool enough 🤗 you live and you learn

I went on a week trip with most of my family and some cousins. My older sister stayed behind because she had work. We had a power outage thr first night we were gone, and none of us knew except my sister. The power strip we use to power the fish tank completely shut off, the heater wasn't running, the filter and light wasn't on, and I guess my sister didn't think anything of it. We come back to three dead fish, and a tank that has clearly had an ammonia spike or something. My sister had clearly fed the fish, but that just made it worse, making the water worse. We had a 55 gallon we were planning on setting up, but we didn't have anything for it, so my mom ran to the store because we realized the filter we bought a while back didn't come with tubing, she also cot aquarium gravel because she "needed the tank to look nice." My brother started filling the tank while I got the fish into a bucket of clean water. I have mollies and platies, and they breed like crazy, so there were a lot of fish, which is why we were going to upgrade to a 55 gallon from our 30 gallon. No other fish died luckily, although there were some who were obviously stressed, and sitting on the bottom of the tank, but they're doing better now. My sister also somehow gave the dogs cat food. We have a gravity feeder and waterer for the pets, and we keep the dog food in a bin, and the cat food in a more portable container because we have a semi outdoor cat and an outdoor cat, and two cat feeders in completely different areas. I left the dog food scooper in the cat food container while I was filling up the dog food bin once, and I guess she mistook it for the dog food even though its way too small to be dog food.

My Betta bowl was knocked over by me and kid throwing football in house. I thought we knocked only the lamp over. Didn't realize the fish bowl fell too. Two hours later I realize it. I came home to find my husband's huge arowana had jumped out the tank and was laying on the floor. He was pretty dry, but I cradled him in the water and moved him back and forth for about five minutes and his gills started moving and then his body! I thought I saved him, but is was the worst, horrorblist thing I could of done. Within days his skin turned splotchy, looking like i burned him with bleach, and then he died, I'm sure a horrible death. I am so sorry that I did that to him. RIP dude.

I have done this with my first tank, two of my otos died, I was devastated. Since my tank is right next to my head, I can't fall asleep with the filter on. I figured out, that I can put the filter on a timer, switch it off for 30min so I can fall asleep, and it will switch back on. This way I can fall asleep in silence and it still works during the night.

Thats pretty epic. Given I've seen about 10-15 in your tanks at a time. You only lost 1. Thats a save if I've ever heard of one. A costly mistake that you learned well.
