Hi! My studying was spaced throughout the day - I usually try to keep each study session not over 1 hour as I found that my productivity would drop after that. Hope this helps!

Hello! I was wondering if you could give an idea about how accurate you felt the questions on medify and medentry were compared to the exam. Especially for VR and DM. I've found that Medentry is a lot stricter with their syllogisms but medify is more flexible - which i found to resemble the official resource a little more. I've been asking around and VR seems to be really variable. Many people say Medentry is more similar as it involved more inferencing and the length was more realistic but honestly after doing some of the official questions it seemed pretty inference-less. Most importantly though how much do you believe the official resources for VR and DM especially reflect difficulty on the real exam? Most opinions I've heard say that the official resources for VR are too short and easy and some say they're a good representation. Also if you don't mind what were you averaging on mocks for medentry and medify? Was your score similar to what you got when you did the official mocks? Sorry for so many questions I'm really quite worried about this.

Hi Amelia! Thanks for all your questions. Let me answer them one by one: 1. In terms to similarity to the actual UCAT, I’d say that the order of similarity goes as follows: official practice tests > Medify > Medentry. Keep in the mind that these 3 resources all resemble the UCAT very well, so honestly there isn’t a lot of difference in similarity. Whatever you have, it will be adequate to prepare you! I think what’s most important is to focus on whatever question you have and really be able to master them inside out! 2. For VR, I’d say that both Medify and Medentry resemble the passage length and difficulty well, both in general and inference-wise. 3. For DM, I found Medify to be slightly better than Medentry in terms of resemblance! 4. For my mock averages, I initially did poorly (I think my first mock was around 2400, about a few months before the exam). But as I did more practice, my mock scores improved drastically. My best Medify mock score was around 3000, but that was two weeks before the exam. I then practised using the official Pearson resources, which didn’t compute any scores. I think my biggest tip for this is to not worry too much about mock exam scores, and just focus on getting the questions right & making sure you can correctly do the questions you got wrong the first time. If you mock score isn’t great right now, know that you’ve got time to really improve it and score high on the actual UCAT, just like me! I hope that answers your questions; let me know if you have other questions! I will soon be making other videos about medical school applications, so stay tuned! (And maybe suggest some topics?) Wish you all the best in your UCAT preparation and medicine application!

@@tangyue6 ok thank you so much for your help! My mocks right now are pretty good. For medify my average is 3041 and medentry is 3100. I don't think I need to worry too much but like it's a scary thought to think if I mess up on the day then I'd have wasted all this time hahaha. But thanks for your insight and I'll make sure to update you when i get my score!

@@binkie5396 Wow! Your mock scores are very good (a lot better than mine at this point last year!) and I’m sure that if you keep up your hard work, then you can be very successful! A 3000+ score can get you interviewed at virtually all medical schools (though I’m not sure about the unis that used to use BMAT like Oxbridge) Have confidence in yourself! The UCAT is a skill-based exam as opposed to content-based, so the chances of you messing up are very low! Please keep me posted, I look forward to hearing your good news!

@@tangyue6 haha yeah but right now there's a downward trend in my mock scores HAHA i think it's from other factors though (considering I've been consistently sleeping at 3am). I just reread your previous response about suggesting topics for future vids and I was thinking (drawing on my own experience anyway) how most people struggle heaps with either VR or DM syllogisms so maybe something about that could be good! Thanks again - your feedback has been a lotta help!

Thank you so much, the advice was very helpful, especially the vr. From all of the sections quantitative reasoning is something I terribly struggle at, just when working through the solutions and how my timings are not so great. Do you have a bank of topics or a formulae cheat sheet for qr, which you used, where I can refer back to learn the basic maths content? Thank you!!
@tangyue6
@tangyue6 3 ай бұрын
Hi Masooma! I'm glad my video was of use to you! For QR, I noticed that there are usually a few calculations tested: percentage, unit conversions, rates of change, and statistical averages. I didn't actually active build a list or cheat sheet - I found that with the sheer volume of practice, I would have a mental checklist in the back of my head. I'm not sure if this can be extrapolated to you, but I hope you find this helpful! Good luck studying!

@@user-y1206 Yeah, I'd say that Medify is closer to the actual exams in terms of QR - but in general, they are both really similar. If you have time, I'd recommend both to practise as many questions as you can!

@tangyue6
@tangyue6 2 ай бұрын
Hi! For both sections, I'd recommend repetitive practice - especially for QR. And after finishing a day's practice, make sure to make note of the questions you got wrong and review them. Also, familiarise yourself with keyboard shortcuts and for QR, practise punching numbers using an older keyboard (eg public library) so you can save lots of time on exam day. Good luck to you and I hope you'll do well!

Hi, im back again. It’s two weeks before my exam and I found myself coming back in a circle - I just wanted to ask how your experience was on the day of the ucat. When you took the exam did you think or feel it to be easier than the mocks you’ve done prior? For example, did you walk out confidently expecting an amazing score? Or was 3300 totally unexpected?
@tangyue6
@tangyue6 2 ай бұрын
Hi! Yeah, so during the exam, I was too concentrated on the questions before me to actually think about how well or badly I was doing, and I got my exam score right after I finished, so I actually didn't have time to think about all these😅 My advice would be to just focus on each question before you on test day and try your best! As for similarity to mocks, I'd say that they are quite similar to all of the question banks I used, so no surprises for me. Good luck with your UCAT, and I hope you will do well!

Would you say that MedEntry is harder than medify? I have my test soon and have only used MedEntry. Do you think that the mocks were similar to the actual UCAT test?

Hi! In my opinion, MedEntry is highly similar to Medify in terms of exam question difficulty, though I found my MedEntry mock scores to be higher than my Medify mock scores. So both are good resources to prepare for the UCAT! Have you also tried the official practice exams? I found these to be of most use in the lead up to my exam: www.ucat.ac.uk/prepare/practice-tests/ Good luck with your exam preparation, and I wish you the best!

I use Medentry and Medify. I was wondering if you found that the Medify scaled scores seem to be more harsh than medentry?. It seems to me that the same raw score on medify and medentry results in very different scaled scores, with medntry always being higher.

Yes, I did feel that the Medify scores are scaled harsher than MedEntry! But to be honest I have no idea how the actual UCAT or indeed both mocks are scaled, so perhaps the actual UCAT scaling is different!
