Hi Paul, thanks for sharing your experience. Do you suggest giving more than 1 practice test a day ? Also how is the Veritas free practise test available publicly. Can you suggest some resources for free practise exams available online. Thanks
@minyarg
@minyarg 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Suyash, I do not recommend doing more than 1 practice test a day. The first practice test you take should be after you have completed a lot of self-study or a Prep course and you feel pretty prepared for the exam. The practice test will give you some insight as to what score you will get on test day under the time constraints, so that's why it's best to save until you're nearing the end of your studying. I did a practice exam every week to 2 weeks after self studying for several months because I had access to 9 exams through GMAC and Veritas prep, but if you're looking just to build up your time management and conditioning you can do that by creating problem sets that are the same length as the exam from Official Guide problems. The GMAC has two free practice tests available on MBA.com, which you can retake multiple times. Each GMAT Prep company offers 1 free exam to nonmembers, so you should be able to get 1 free Veritas Prep Exam, Manhattan Review, Kaplan, etc. I have only tried Veritas Prep, so I am not sure how reliable the other company's exams are. Hope this helps and best of luck!

Hey Paul! I saw your post on Reddit and watched this video. I found it very helpful even though our situations are different. I am planning to enroll in TTP for Quants. What strategy would you recommend to bump my Quants score? Is TTP good enough to clear your basics/foundations plus a little more? (I am weak at Quants) I am planning to complete TTP for Quants first and then buy Manhattan Adv Quants. Thanks in advance!
@minyarg
@minyarg 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Niranjan! That sounds like a great plan. Start with learning the content and then move to building the strategy. TTP is mostly content with a little bit of strategy at the end. Veritas Prep is about half content and half strategy. Manhattan Advanced Quant is all strategy. TTP should be a good resource for building a solid foundation. TTP is still having a sale for $1 full access, so I would take advantage of that to see if the program is right for you. Veritas Prep KZbin videos also provide some Quant strategies for free: kzbin.info/www/bejne/i3iqm62mh92UjcU&ab_channel=VeritasPrep

Hi Paul, thank you for sharing your experience. Your video is surely helping many of us to understand the test pattern and make our own strategy for writing the test. I have one query though. Did you have a full time job during the course of your prep? if yes, how did you plan to manage it? Just curious to understand more about it.

Hi Basudev, It's all about integrating GMAT studying into your life. I worked US standard of 40 hrs/week. After work almost everyday, I would study for a couple of hours. At first, it was tiring to work 8 hours a day and then study for a couple hours, but after a few weeks my conditioning improved and it became routine. If you have a more demanding job or other responsibilities, you can still study regularly but it might be for a shorter amount of time or only on certain days (maybe only 1 hr daily or everyday except Tuesdays). Find a schedule that is consistent and sustainable. Whatever time you spend studying make sure you use that time efficiently as well.

Hi Paul! Thanks so much on this and congrats on your score! May I ask you further about the e-gmat? At what part did you find e-gmat is not useful? Because I'm planning to subscribe one of those online resources, and e-gmat is the most preferable one for now (2 reasons: they provide tutor who I can ask at anytime I'm in doubt, plus they have customized study plan that enable me to know what part I should improve myself on). Moreover, will be helpful if you have any recommendation for online resource that can provide those 2 constraints:)

For me, I did not need a study plan from a company, since I had a good understanding of areas that I was strong and weak in. Since that was not a need for me, I am not sure which services would be best (E-GMAT might be the best for you). I watched several of E-Gmat's lecture style videos on KZbin and the format of their lessons was not helpful in the way that I learn. I much preferred Veritas Prep's KZbin videos, which is why I signed up for that service. Veritas Prep also had an office hours, where you can ask staff for specific help, but again that was not a selling point I felt I needed. My biggest decision point was how organized and easily understandable the information and strategies were. I also noticed some minor spelling/grammatical errors in some of their articles that made me question their reliability.

How can I improve timing on CR? I take 2.5 to 3 minutes for a question.
@minyarg
@minyarg 3 жыл бұрын
It depends on what is causing you to take 2.5-3 minutes per question. If it understanding the prompt, focus on building Reading Comprehension. If it is identifying the conclusion or finding the gap in logic, practice strategies that help signal those statements (I liked Veritas Prep strategies). If you can fully understand the entirety of the prompt, the answer choices should be clearer. When you learn how the test maker tries to trick you, the questions become easier.

Thanks Paul for the response. I will definitely go through the videos. I wanted to know if that is the only resource you used for learning CR fundamentals? Also, if there’s one advice you would like to give to someone who is seeking to improve his CR score then what would that be?
@minyarg
@minyarg 2 жыл бұрын
@@BharatVohra I used PowerScore Critical Reasoning Bible but ultimately found myself using all of Veritas Prep's strategies. Treat every CR question like you are lawyer, not just a reader. I went into those questions actively looking for a problem in their argument, and that slight mindset shift helped me find the gaps in logic much faster. Also, review your missed problems in depth to find where you're having trouble. I spent 1.5 minutes solving a CR problem and 10 minutes reviewing that one problem.

@@yutongwang7251 Yes, the CR pdf and CR KZbin videos from Veritas Prep. I was not a fan of the CR from TTP.
