How are you focusing? Do you use back button focus? Do you dial your point of focus?

Yes i was on back-focus. I use one-shot AF and my focus point is always in the center. I focus on the couple then recompose holding in focus and shooting. With the mark iii & IV I did well using this method. Now I switched over to the canon mirrorless, and don’t have to deal with this kinda mess! The mirrorless is the way to go!
