I went to school in Greensboro, Mckays was a cool store to go thumb thru if you knew someone with a car or had one to get to it. Mostly I remember it for being the spot to go to that would buy your textbooks for more than the campus bookstore would/sell you used ones cheaper. Also funny you mention My Morning Jacket and Washed out, both were really popular in the early 2010s when I was in school. At least among the Tate St hipster crowd. They used to play on campus radio all the time too, saw Washed out at the Blind Tiger once, My Morning Jacket played at the Coli too but the $60 in college was too rich for me. If you’ve ever seen the show Portlandia you’ve heard Washed Out before, their song Feel It All Around is the theme song for that show. This video brings back some memories lol

We had Vintage Vinyl in Fords, NJ. Sadly, they are no longer in existence after 42 years. They seem to be very similar to McKays. Although it was about an hour drive for me, I would frequent there often. They had bootlegs, crazy hard to find metal albums, one time pressings of CD’s and vinyl, toys, movies and etc. They had a stage in the back of the store and they also had meets and greets with bands from time to time. @@KillbotAndGorGorAttack now that you replied, I checked the website and it turns out they have non remasters of Megadeth I should see what they have in the shop, maybe I won't be disappointed this time, although I will be disappointed if I see no Persona Non Grata this shop sells sealed cds

Do you have a social media or a place to get in contact? I’m always sending out CDs and I’d love to send some your way, especially if you’d enjoy some CDs I’m personally putting out / my friends

There’s not really any good used media stores in my area. There’s one but it’s mostly books and the music section has almost no metal music and not much rock.

Technically McKays is more of a book store, but the CD selection is still huge. It’s about 40 minutes from my house though. You gotta travel for stuff like this

Unfortunately, my city only has a Rasputins/Mad Monk. The selection is limited and sometimes poorly sorted (For some reason Megadeth and Metallica are labeled rock while Slayer, Volbeat, and Exodus are Heavy Metal.) I mainly have to shop online cause they rarely have what I want, including new releases, and a ten minute drive there just isn't worth it. We used to have a FYE but they closed down and now it's a fucking furniture store. I love cd shopping but both the selection and order is shit. They take in used CDs as well which vary in quality. I got Far Beyond Driven there and it was scratched as hell (why the fuck did they even sell it?). Long rant aside, I still love/hate tracking down rare CDs and stumbling across random Metal acts I've never heard of before. Its how I discovered Havok, Warbringer, and even Decide.
