your photography is stunning even with black and white you still manage to make it feel like it's us the viewer that has taken the image or as if we are seeing the Seen with our own eyes there perfect and should be included in a art exebition

It looks like you will be very happy with the new masking features just added to Lightroom Great image as usual

Thank you. Yes, the masks are making a huge difference to our work. It's what I like about Adobe products, they get better and better.

Thanks- good education. Encourages me to get to know the new LR tools even better, especially “intersect masks”! Geoff

I would have been chuffed to have taken all your images that day! I like how you use the brush tool to dodge and burn rather than trying to make exact selections eg the face.

A great photograph Jeff I loved seeing the way you processed the photograph. I enjoy the processing part of the work flow which I am still learning with my black and white photography.

Thank you, Neil. It’s the part of the process I really enjoy. I don’t think any of us stop learning. It’s part of the journey of being a photographer.

Best editing video, very close to a darkroom work with an enlarger

Thank you. That's how I was taught to print. Digital editing is just more comfortable and immediate but the principles are the same. In my mind at least.

Nice work, such a nice image to work with. That cheeky seagull! It's good to spend some time processing an image, as you really get to look at it. I enjoy the process much more that way (rather than processing loads quickly as is more often the case). I definitely have days where nothing seems to come out of a shoot that I like.
@WalkLikeAlice2 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I agree 110% with you. Spending some time with an image is a great way of understanding what it is you took. I find the editing side very relaxing as well. As for not getting a photo, it used to frustrate the hell out of me but I’m more settled now.

Very interesting to see the "Behind the image" thoughts as well as the editing process. I migrated over to Capture One some time ago but it's tempting to return to Lightroom just to use your presets and profiles.

I used to be sponsored by C1 back in the day. At the time, LR was very basic and C1 allowed me the option to do virtually all the editing inside one app. These days, I think LR is such a mature product and it keeps getting better with each update. Having said this, I haven’t used C1 for the best part of ten years so I don’t know what it can do these days.

That was an interesting watch right through, the editing was different from what I am used to as I use Silver effex, but I liked how you worked it.
@WalkLikeAlice2 жыл бұрын
I used Silver Efex for a long time. It’s a great piece of software. The problem for me came when Nik was taken over by DXO. I found it became clunky moving from LR to SE especially on the later upgrades.

@@WalkLikeAlice I have stayed with series 2 and not moved up. I have heard the same complaint from other people. And now it's not cheap anymore.

Hello, I really like your work. Where do you position your camera for taking youtube videos? Is it a gopro? Thank you
@WalkLikeAlice2 жыл бұрын
GoPro. Sony. iPhone. We use all three. GoPro is usually attached to the camera bag strap.

Interesting. Me, I don't do this! Nothing. I know everybody will take Umbridge! Great take a number. I shoot straight, see frame, push button. Life is too short. Jeff though, Bravo. Love your image.

For me, the final image is a combination of capture and processing. It’s always been that way. From the moment I was let loose in a darkroom in 1988. I also find the editing to be the most enjoyable part of the process. It’s when the image comes alive. Each to their own.

Love the shot, and great video as well. No critique here but I just can't really get on with off kilter horizon lines. It's unsettling to me as a viewer, although I realize everyone feels differently. That being said I can see how it adds a sense of distance and dimension in this case. Shot is still brilliant : )
@WalkLikeAlice9 ай бұрын
Thank for your comments. It was shot with a 21mm lens. It's impossible to get straight horizons with a shot like this unless you mess about with changing the perspective in LR, and that would remove the character of the lens.
@papasight73659 ай бұрын
@@WalkLikeAlice I'm talking about the horizon line (0 degrees horizontal plane) that is determined with the shot composition pre any processing. Minor detail anyhow that is more my opinion than any hindrance to the shot. You've pulled it off nicely.

Great video again. Your editing process is a true value add. thanks. You might want to try out Capture One, once........they have what they call style brushes so that you don't need photoshop :-)

Thank you!! I was sponsored by C1 at one time. I eventually ditched it for Lightroom. I’ve used Photoshop since the late 90s and am very comfortable with it. I still use Bridge/ACR/Photoshop if I’m working on just one photo. That’s how I learned.

@@WalkLikeAlice So you see,.....every one has another path for learning and getting better at the end of the day :-)
@WalkLikeAlice2 жыл бұрын
@@aartb2836 Yes. Absolutely. The problem with photography is that people still think their way is the best way!! As long as what you use works for you, then nothing else matters. It's why we still use camera tech that is obsolete by modern standards
