I really really believe that slow cinema / video is the way forward. It’s hard to convince music labels though! Hopefully more people champion the cause!

@@jordanm6432 Ben Rivers has made some beautiful films, usually falling within this ‘nonfiction’ category that takes key concepts of documentary and blends them with artistry. Also Abas Kiarostami is worth looking into!

George is a production genius. When there's a remix or a new version of this song, color version of this clip can be used as a music video.

I think it works really well. It suits the music and the atmosphere. The shot is static but there is a lot of movement from the shifting tree branches and the ripples from the rain. It is very poetic.

you absolutely nailed it, the video compliments the audio really well! and also i agree that most musicvideos distract from the music and keep me from enjoying the song.. they're like a really cool genre of short fims though..

I agree with his idea of not wanting to take away from the music and making the experience of listening to the music better. But being a "video guy" myself. I also like the idea of having the music video exist almost as its own entity away from the song. These movie type music videos are becoming very popular, which is good I guess. But I also like the idea of the future of music videos existing next to the likes of feature and short films.

Great! I've been experimenting with this lately too. Having a "moving photograph" like this to focus on kinda makes you immerse yourself in the music even more, I find. Sort of takes away any distractions. I like it a lot. Love the negative version!

it might not seem that simple to other people because they don't know the process begins it as you do. But in the end of the day it doesn't matter whether it's simple or complicated, the emotions any art awakes is the most important thing. I've felt what you described while watching the video

Visually i prefer the negative video and understand why it was only used on the instrumental version, as I would probably find myself looking at the details of the imagery and possibly not taking in the lyrics if this was used on the first one.

I really liked the video, and your reasoning behind it improved the experience too. reminds me of the recent videos for the fleet foxes acoustic versions. And stark contrast to Black Keys' latest video which has so many edits and effects I was convinced it must be a joke or a dare. made me feel ill for real.

I think the idea of this is great but I do wish there was some sort of variation in the video. Once I know the image will be staying the same for the whole time, I feel that it makes me less likely to watch it. But maybe that's the point; to listen to the music instead of focusing on a visual. Definitely not against this and I think it's worthwhile to explore especially when there are a lot of music videos that rely super heavily on post process and VFX. I also fucking love what you said: "I don't want to try and steal the show from the music, my job is to try and make the experience of listening to the music even better." I think what I'm trying to say is that this intention is exactly what artists should be doing when making a music video, but that maybe it's a bit too simplistic

It's just a puddle for me, but, it doesn't really matter what I or anyone else interpret it as. I have plenty of photographs that mean a whole lot to me that most other people would just glance over completely, and some of my most popular photos I don't care about. I work for a music artist myself and the video I put the most time into and was the most proud of, flopped, and ones I've whipped together real quick did insane on the socials haha. Art is subjective and it won't land with everyone no matter what you do. So, keep creating what makes you happy, I'll still be here to watch the videos regardless. Cheers, my dude.
