One trick I do is I use yellow construction paper as the background when scanning - it helps ensure you have a contrasting color that's a stark difference that works regardless of borderless, white border, black border, etc. Another is separate your foil, borderless, and non foil before scanning. That helps ensure you're getting the right treatment and scan value, even if the name and set matched.

export the filtered csv from the pricing tab per set and can import it after updating the add column and you can alphabatize from there.
@decksdicellc882Ай бұрын
Great video. Really. Only things I can say is that doing set isn't necessary unless you're going to go TCG Direct. We separate by color and type (creature, instant, etc) then sub divide alpha there and once a section gets big enough do sub alpha with it (Aa, Ab, Ac, etc.) As far as making lists? I wouldn't worry about that either. Everything will be uploaded to you TCG inventory and you can search that a thousand different ways. Just scan, upload, and delete what you just scanned. And your conditioning way is how we do it. 90% of everything we list is LP. Unless we crack it fresh from a pack, or get something phenomenal in trade, it all gets LP listed. You're doing great work though. Keep it up. Hats off to you, good sir.
@GameVitaminsАй бұрын
Appreciate the kind words! I'd like to get into direct at some point to try that out, so I went with this route on storage, and at least for now it's been real quick to pull orders with. As for the lists, once I do upload them I delete them now. It grew to be way too many. Only perk I've found of separating scanning out by set is that you never get incorrect sets uploaded. The app seems to choose whichever set it pleases... Anyway, appreciate you watching and commenting!

@@GameVitamins I recommend using ManaBox for scanning cards into a collection, and then exporting that CSV file to your inventory. ManaBox does a much better job in comparison to tcgplayer app at identifying the specific card that's the same thing in multiple sets.
@royalcollectablesАй бұрын
What I do is sort by rarity. Then sleeve up. Set playsets aside. Then put those in a box. Then see what decks need what cards. Then see what I'm missing from the set either buy trade or sell to get what i need for the set. That why I have a playset off to the side. Then sell all bulk on ebay and tcgplayer.
@loolded4797Ай бұрын
Sort foils out first, tokens and lands also. I find it goes faster if you take out core and commander sets then sort them later on as well
@chomper13292 ай бұрын
Get a gooseneck phone holder. I use manabox scanner. Disable quick scan. Grab a stack. Scan and sort alphabetically. Names dont change, sets do. So if you have to check 4-5 sets for the card you want.... If it was alphabetical, you check the same spot every time. When a new set comes out? Gotta make a new box. Not alphabecially.... Just slot them in. I can scan and sort about 400 cards an hour.
@GameVitamins2 ай бұрын
Hmm that is true! Would make it pretty easy to just run down the list alphabetically regardless of set. I guess my only question is how do you limit any incorrect set scans? Cause when I sort by set then scan I can ensure that nothing is incorrect there. Or do you just watch and double check every card you go through?
@chomper13292 ай бұрын
@@GameVitamins When I scan using manabox if quick scan is off, it'll prompt you to select the correct scan - which is off of the picture so it'll show like 4-5 reprints and then I'll type in the set 3 letters on the bottom of the card or, if it's an older card, just match. It slows down just a bit, and scanning by set is quite speedy, so I have in the past sorted by set, then just stored alphabetically, but I no longer pre-sort, I just grab a stack and scan. Anything under $1 is bulk, anything over $1 will be in my binders :)
@donmorrison983429 күн бұрын
I highly recommend when you open new boxes, that you should inventory the "bulk" when you are doing the M,R, and UC. It saves you a ton of time later. I learned this the hard way. If you crack and sort by color and then alphabetize each color and keep your sets sorted that way, it is much easier to find cards to pull them for orders. And you never know when a common is going to work with a combo from a future set, and you don't want them setting around not in inventory. JMHO

@kazian54538 күн бұрын
I do about 8k -10k cards per day when we buy large collections for MTG. We go Era sort, then Set sort, then alphabetical. Eras - Look at the card if it's white border of there's nothing in the bottom left corner of the card and Illustrator is listed center bottom, it's Era 1. If there's a paintbrush icon on bottom left, it's Era 2. If bottom left has two lines, card number out of total and set name and language(ZNR * ENG), then it's Era 3 or modern Era. This seems to help set sort, because you're limiting how many possible sets you're sorting from when you move to set sorting.

I don't sell, but I will eventually. I use Helvault to scan my cards and Moxfield to store my collection. I like Helvault because when I scan, I can select to only scan from a single set. After opening a play box or multiple, I can just select "Duskmourn" and it will always use the Duskmourn printing in the final list.

I don't use the sorters. I would suggest going to an online card store and sorting by set and then by price and memorize wich commons are worth anything. Then only set aside cards worth 50 cents. Take the rest and sell them in packs of 4000 in the USPS Medium Flat Rate Boxes for 20$ shipping. It takes me about 2 hours to sort through 4000 cards. I also set aside "good" commons and uncommons into two piles and save them for later and only sell the "hot" cards in small batches from each bulk. That might work. What you're trying to do is nearly impossible but somebody's gotta do it! Thanks for sharing. Also, sort onto a cloth while standing at a table and turn up the music/TV
@CardThrone22 күн бұрын
Flat Rate Boxes are a scam. You can fit 4500 cards easiily in a 12x9x6 box and it only costs around $8-12 to ship when you buy postage on pirateship or shipstation.

So here's the problem I've had listing lower end cards like this. If they add a few cards to their order and I can put them all in a PWE, then great. But if they add 30-40 cards and the order is under $20 still, I end up having to lose $4 bucks on shipping with tracking. If it's a $20 order it's not terrible, but for a $10 and under order, most of my profit is gone. How do you handle those situations?
@GameVitaminsАй бұрын
Hmm I will say I've only come across this a couple of times when they haven't ordered any high value cards and only cheap bulk cards. Since it has happened so infrequently for me I just chocked it up to the cost of doing business. But if you don't care to track them, you can do USPS First Class Mail "large envelope" which is base price of $1.50, but if you watch my video on shipping cards you can see the size I use. This saves a couple dollars for orders like that. But regardless they'll still be a pain to pull, pack and send out, so it's just part of the game.

Do you find that listing $.05-$1.00 cards is worth it?
@GameVitamins2 ай бұрын
I've certainly sold a good amount in that range, and I keep a floor price so nothing is posted for less than $0.19. In that case they are "high margin cards" when they do sell. Yes, some orders are large pulls with many cheaper cards, but overall I'd say it's worth it as of now since my goal is to have a wide variety of inventory so when someone buys a $10 card, there's a chance I also have the lower value cards they're also searching for. Thanks for watching!
@fozzythealbino2 ай бұрын

@@dbdclipaltchannel3452 Well if they only order one card at that price then yes I do lose on those, just a couple cents, but the idea is to have the inventory to generate sales that contain several cards. Though inevitably there will be cards that are just breakeven or minor losses.

What do think about doing set order instead of alphabetical
