Both. I love coworking spaces because they are unique, creative, fun, and I make a lot of positive friends there. I don’t drink alcohol, but I still go to bars and have met great friends there as well, although it is usually a different type of person you meet.

Ahh if I do the digital nomad thing its possible as I run mental health services online and by telephone, but think I would have to avoid the coworker space due to client confidentiality but I see the appeal to working in them. But yes I would defiantly avoid the bar scene as having travelled there many times you can blow alot of money there and too much drama there lol.

this is the most valuable lesson about being a succesful digital nomad, don't get distracted, just focus your intention on being what you want to be and do the work, it's the best environment to do so.

Thank you so much for choosing Thailand for your career as a Digital Nomad. I am Thai living in Bangkok. Also, I am a scientist and spent a few years in the US. I consider having a business to support a person who wants to be a digital nomad in Thailand. But, I really don't know what a digital nomad really needs and considers staying in Thailand.

Co-working spaces is such a great idea. I was in Bangkok working remotely a few years ago, went to cafes every day to work. It did feel a bit lonely and bored at times. Wished I had thought of this. Thanks!

I know this is a bit off subject, but learning the language and being able to converse w/Thai people has helped me learn and given me tremendous joy in being here. Brett I can elaborate if you want to contact me... it is not as difficult as you might think to get functional... there is so much to learn and enjoy...

Brilliant insights and inspiration Brett. Having lived in Thailand and Malaysia long time ago you have me convinced. My only quandary is, "What the hell should I start out from scratch doing?" I've watched your previous videos on the subject but it seems a bit of a different world now.

You're giving me some hope, bro. I'm in the US right now, but lived/worked (for US govt) in Thailand for a year and met my wife. My wife lives with me in the US right now since 2017, but at some point we want to go back to Thailand. I'm pursing a computer science degree at the moment because I love problem solving and coding. I was hoping that this degree/skills would help me say busy whenever we do decide to move to Thailand. Thanks for the insight and keep it up with the quality content!

Don't focus too much on the Comp. Sci. degree. You can self learn so much more relevant skills yourself on platforms like Udemy. My Comp. Sci degree has done me very little favours other than prove I can learn to a certain level.

There are other places to hang out than at bars or co-working spaces. I met a ton of friends through English-speaking theater and arts places, of which Chiang Mai has a ton. And you can make friends via various groups online. Having friends makes living fun, and keeps you healthy too!

@Beverly That's so good to hear. I'm an artist and am planning on moving there early July; was hopeful that there was an art community to tap into!

@@tadjani5191 Oh my goodness! Chiang Mai is an artist PARADISE...! Everything from English speaking theater groups, jazz locations, drop-in painting spots and fun painting nights (love those!). There is a fantastic art shop at Maya Mall for your supplies. I performed in a play, first time ever and LOVED it. Whatever "floats your boat", it's here in Chiang Mai.

Brett what visa are you on? You rarely talk about the best visa strategy. Some people just pay to have indefinite illegal volunteer visas, have you heard about that? It seems very difficult to stay in Thailand more than a few months. I'd like to stay for 5+ years but there isn't much of an option aside from marriage or a huge investment. You can learn Thai, but even that is just a one year visa and it takes a lot of time and prevents you from traveling where you want freely.

Any news on the potential of Thailand offering NOMAD Visas Brett? I want to come over but what Visa is best for people like yourself? I know Thailand's visas change on a weekly basis and it is hard to keep track but I don't want to be doing loads of visa runs....I'd rather get on to a 1-5 year visa catered for digital nomads.
@AlfredHimmelweiss3 жыл бұрын
Maybe buy yourself an elite visa for 20 years for one million baht. that is 230 USD every month. i think they also have an option for 500.000 baht and five or ten years....and yes this is only something for people with a business mind set....;-)
@Masoniteable3 жыл бұрын
@@AlfredHimmelweiss Yes I may look at a 5 year thai elite to see how I get on for 5 years. 40 next year so for my 40th I may treat myself. If all goes well extended it another 5 years then I'll be eligible for retirement visa at 50. 🙏
