It depends on where you live in England, the amount of cases affects what tier you are in. So places with higher cases are in higher tiers w stricter rules & places w lower cases are in lower tiers w less rules

During the first lockdown everything was closed except supermarkets. This lockdown supermarkets were open & schools/universities. Any retail shops were closed. We are now out of lockdown but in tiers depending on where we live. Tier 3 has strictest rules, Tier 1&2 have more leanient rules, allowing shops to be open and pubs/bars if you have a substantial meal! Hope that makes sense!
