I mean, the fact that you fight Penny isn't nearly as much of a spoiler as the context in which you fight her. The only time I got annoyed at S/V spoilers is KZbin recommending a cover of the final boss theme, including who you fight, trainer class and all. That was a way bigger surprise, imo.

TBH I hadn't fought Penny when that video came out, but I also live under the assumption that any Pokemon NPC with a name will probably be fought at some point. /Especially/ if they're part of the main crew lol

I got spoiled but it was less "Aw you fight Penny" and more of a "Aw Penny gets her own theme so she's probably more important." But I just waited until I fought her and then listened to the cover so no biggie.

Penny being fought was kind of easy to guess anyway. And the context of the quest made it really obvious what her deal was early on. I guess the real spoiler were the friends we made along the way.

I mean…it’s not like other people haven’t posted their covers pretty early on. Heck, Jerod often spoils (and gets spoiled) on certain music and such just through his drum streams alone as everyone wants him to drum to the OST from recent releases while they’re still relevant.

Eh, it was spoiled for me because I wanted to find battle music I'd heard as I was early in the game and I'm subbed to you so it popped up. I was kind of pissed at first but then was like "eh, it's kind of obvious" and honestly I don't know what the solution would be. It's your channel, and it's important to ride the hype early on in the release window. You didn't necessarily do anything wrong. I certainly didn't blame you, it was my fault for looking up the OST before I finished the game. Only thing I could think of would be spoiler-free title/thumbnail during like the first week and then just edit them after? I dunno. I appreciate that you feel bad even if it's not a big deal, and I'm sorry people flamed the video over it. It's a great cover of a great song.

Post-release spoilers don't annoy me that much. However, it does piss me off when people upload leaks THE WEEK before release with spoilers in the thumbnails that then wind up in people's recommendations (wink wink Splatoon 3).

When I first saw the cover recommended it was a 'spoiler' in that I had not fought Penny but tbh the fact that a named npc in a pokemon game battles you is not exactly information that would ruin my playthrough

I wasn’t really angry or anything but as someone who is really anal about being spoilered and who tries their best to not get spoiled at all it did bum me out that I got spoilered by the thumbnail. But it’s not like a giant big deal just like a”well that sucks” but the cover is a bop

I don't mind spoilers and I kinda figured with Penny being a main character we'd fight her anyways, though I suppose one way to have mitigated it might've been titlilng it "Starfall Street Final Boss"? Since that's the name given to the plotline in-game and in trailers. Maybe Penny's thumbnail image could've been swapped for the Team Star logo too. It would've also protected against spoilers for Cassiopeia, though I feel in-game they kinda bat you over the head with it early that Cassiopeia is secretly Team Star's Leader. 🤔

i was able to miraculously survive getting through xenoblade 3 without major spoilers except for one minor thing from a 12 second clip and even then the context as to why all of that thing the case went completely over my head and i am glad peak fiction

I wouldn't say it's obvious you fight penny because pokemon has tons of story important character without pokemon, or at least battle ready pokemon. Look last gen with Sonia, she's important all game for the darkest day plot but she never fights anything but is accompanied by yamper, I thought penny would be that type of trainer, not a strong battler with a dope as hell battle theme.

I bought GoW Ragnarok because Santa Monica studios were so amazing about not revealing anything, then as soon as the game dropped, the official PlayStation page kept dropping spoilers literally every day. Felt scummy, and annoyed I had to just buy it full price just to not have the game ruined

Personally I didn't really care about the spoiler - plus the ost was making rounds through my recommended so I had already seen Penny's theme On the one hand, yeah, the spoiler is unfortunate. I think it could've been... minimized I guess(?) if the video were titled differently and all. Like, I think the song is called "Cassiopeia Battle" or something in the game's online battle system, so you could've kinda hidden it. But on the other hand, yeah, you should absolutely do whichever sing you want to, and Penny's theme is probably what most people know it as, so even people that have gotten to that point might not have ended up watching the video if it were titled differently. Oh and Sonic Frontiers boss themes slap Break through it all is my personal favourite

Penny is a unique model with a cool eevee backpack. They are obviously an important character, and almost every important character you fight in the game. Plus, you didn't spoil why you are fighting them, just the fact that they have a kickass theme and again, it's pretty expected that you're going to fight an important character. I don't believe you spoiled anything at all since it should be obvious that you will fight Penny at some point. But I do think that if you are worried about that then you probably should've done what someone else said which is have a thumbnail and maybe even title for like a week or 2 saying that this is a spoiler. I think the one issue with that is that the video will probably perform worse. So it's kind of a double-edged sword. In my opinion though, you didn't really spoil anything about the fight as you don't spoil the reason or what pokemon they use.
