Hello from the U.S. ! My son and I scavenge here and find sooooo many useful (some new) items we keep for ourselves or sell at yard sales. My son micro scraps, because he doesn't have a truck to haul large items. So he reclaims copper, brass, bronze, extruded aluminum, small engines to repair or tear down, and some items he removes parts to sell as replacements. He also repairs and refurbishes computers. We've found computers, coins, jewelry, brand new appliances in the box, brand new clothing with tags still attached, brand new shoes in the box, tons of household decor and items. We folks in the U.S. are very wasteful and because of this, I rarely have to go to a store to buy anything "new". I shop thrift stores and also look for things to resell from there. It's so much better to reuse, restore, resell or recycle than to continue to be part of the corporate driven consumer machine.

@@PolyProphet Hey Poly, gas cylinders are a bit up in the air, I usually open fully and leave for a month or too and then drill 2 holes in the side and fill with water and leave a bit more. Out comes a a bigger drill bit bigger enough to shove a air blower into and blow air into the now dead cylinder. There is good brass in them but be careful. This is what I do, I am not suggesting you do the same. A bit time consuming but the brass soon adds up, probably blow myself up one day, gotta go out with a bang I suppose.😁

Hey, love your channel & just wanted to ask a quick question…I noticed this time you included’home content cans’ I realise they are tin lol BUT never even thought they could be recycled for $$$, I do stick ours in the recycling bin although if I can keep them to add to scrap I will…..so can they be recycled for cash OR is it just ok to include them here & there as ‘top ups’ ?
@PolyProphet2 жыл бұрын
You definitely can take them to the scrapyard though you’d need to meet the minimum weight requirement that most yards have here. My yard is minimum 350kg. Others I’ve been to is 1ton. Once they are familiar with you they may let it slide. Thanks for the question kellie 😊🙏🤙

@@PolyProphet cheers for the quick reply and the info…..I’m actually surprised that you gave such a steady flow of hard rubbish piles as well as the things you actually find. Here in Adelaide we are only allowed 2 pickups a calendar year and the majority of the items you collect we aren’t even allowed to include in ours piles……..all the electrical equipment, scrap metal, appliances, building supplies, car batteries, car parts, computer components ect aren’t allowed in our pickups
@PolyProphet2 жыл бұрын
@@kelliebloomfield6907 We also have 2 free pick ups per calendar year with our council. For all the items you aren’t allowed to put out, do you take them to the transfer station?

@@PolyProphet sorry for the late reply….. so anything electrical we can either take to Bunnings and drop in their specialised bins kept out the front of the stores. Bigger items such as white goods ect and any other metal items we either have to scrap ourselves or find someone local that does Free Scrap pickups. Smaller things such as batteries, cans ect I personally take to my local depot as those items can fit in our car and since watching you and others on here I’ve also been taking thre transformers ect out of items like microwaves…..although if I need to get a big pickup that we can’t do ourselves I will make sure to leave all the ‘goodies’ inside the items especially considering someone like you is doing me a favour by removing the larger items at their own cost.
