Ruby...I related so much when you said, if you are too ambitious, it can be demotivating and have a backlash effect on you! I’m a med student in korea and I’m literally piled up with work. I start my day by making a loooong list of everything I need to get done but end the end of the day, I don’t get much done, but I’m left with more worries, self-blame and low key depression. Love this vlog where you talk about these useful things! Let us not get defeated by this situation😂❤️❤️
@qwerty83824 жыл бұрын
You might already do this but, best way to arrange to do lists are; red, orange, green. More urgent to least urgent. ❤️🧡💚 If you make sure to complete all the red urgent tasks, and miss a few green ones or an orange, at least you did the hardest/most important stuff.

This is for everyone who wants a summary or are in a time crunch 🌻🌻🌻 1 ) make a time table 2 ) set healthy timetables ( don’t take more than you can chew) 3 ) recognise your distractions and try to eliminate them 4 ) have a side to do list next to you to record intrusive thoughts that come to your mind so you can write them down and get back to work 5 ) start with the hard and daunting tasks as they have the most resistance. You can also start with a quick easy thing first to get motivated and start on the bigger task 6 ) pomodoro method, tell yourself that you’re going to work on it for just 30 min or 10 min as starting a task is usually the hardest. I’d like to say add that taking care of yourself is also productive because done beat yourself if you procrastinate. Have a lovely week hope everyone is with their loved ones and doing alright in such turbulent times ❤️❤️

Same- except procrastination is so second nature to me- luckily I procrastinate big tasks by doing other things I need to do that have less resistance. But now at alevel I can’t use last minute adrenaline rushes and anxiety of failing to get stuff done and need actual organised efforts. An and diagnosis is not currently available to me, but learning coping mechanisms and finding my own systems has helped sm. For me my biggest thing is transitions, they take so long so now I just timetable them in and have a 5 min rule, and make it so I’m minimising the transition but making it a whole thing so when I have breaks I MOVE LOCATION- study circuits can really help where you set up tasks around a room or rooms in a house and move between them.

This was the main reason why I switched to To-Do lists. It's pretty flexible and allows you to accomplish tasks without any hassle. Also, check out the concept of time-boxing, it might give you some ideas.
@florazul-11914 жыл бұрын
Impossible to me, to be honest. I will get more stressed with time restriction because I know my brain needs time to understand things properly. I think I am pretty mental when it comes to study- I don't do " to do lists" but I have an idea of the subjects I want to study for the day. If I don't make it, I adjust the following day. Because I had some serious anxiety before, I became a bit more relaxed for my own sake. The truth is, with college, it is sometimes, hard to be super worried with aesthetic and beautiful notes, it is more important to be effective. I like beautiful notes - I always write, so it is important to be visually appealing- but the Instagram or KZbin perfect study notes, impossible. Sorry about my English, not my native language.

Ruby, I loved this video so much!! I was honestly a little skeptical going into it because I have ADHD and often when people give me procrastination advice it ends up being very surface level advice like "Just turn your phone off! Just don't procrastinate!" which isn't great when your brain chemistry is actively working against you to make you procrastinate, haha. I think no matter how many distractions I remove from my workspace I'd still find a way to procrastinate in a totally empty room. But you really broke down a lot of the reasons *why* we procrastinate, which I often struggle to figure out in my head when it comes to getting past my own mental block, and your solutions were actually so helpful as a result. I think in particular your frogs and bannisters tip and the advice to force yourself to do five minutes of work are going to end up being lifesavers for me. Thank you so much for this video!!

Was procrastinating on starting my hw and you actually uploaded so this reminds me I have work due on Monday. One thing that helps me to stop procrastination is deleting social media and games in your electronics if you use them to do work so you won’t be tempted to go to social media. This really helped me in 10th grade when our school issued no games or social media in our ipads because then students will tend to forget to check social media and play games and the class’ gpa actually improved. Hope this helps and good luck everybody. Love from a fellow study youtuber.

I totally agree with you. I find it hard to get started, but when I just start studying and don't give myself that choice to not study, I end up finishing the tasks I wanted to finish. The only thing is, I can't put my phone in another room, because I need it a lot for school, especially now with corona. I found this app which is called Block Apps (the logo has a lock with a white circle around it and a green background) I believe and it blocks the apps for a few hours (you can choose how long you want to limit the apps of your choice) . This way you aren't allowing yourself to procrastinate on your phone so you can only use it for good. And Ruby, you motivate me so much during this time, because I usually prefer to do all my homework at school. When I study with you it kind of gives of that school vibe, which keeps my working, thank you for making my study sessions productive in these hard times. I wish you the best, and most importantly, stay healthy! ❤️

the thing with procrastination is that: it's not something that i can easily tackle and take control over being a uni student recently diagnosed with ADHD, it is not easy to get things done like,, normal people? but i appreciate the tips you have mentioned and i have started to take note of what distracts me from the start of this week!

Ruby!! Thank you so much for this wonderful video! To be honest, I wasn't sure if these tips could actually help me. Maybe you know what I'm talking about. It's this one particular feeling that the only way to work on your productivity is by figuring it out all by yourself. In this case, I always felt like I didn't have the right to work on my problems in the same way someone else did as well. I thought I have to figure it out on my own! But your video showed me that inspiration is the key. I never knew a video like this could help me so much. Dear Ruby, you inspired me and helped me figure out a way to work on myself. Hugs and kisses from Germany, hope to meet you in person some day

As a perfectionist myself, I have now come to realise that nothing in life is perfect. To be honest that took me a long time to realise, but thats ok. Don't put pressure on yourself to be or do something perfect because it is almost near impossible to be that way or achieve it. If you do think 🤔 that way take a step back and consider if it is in fact true or not. I am not saying it isn't possible but it's really about perspective.. One persons perfection is different to anothers. Really we should call it the best we are or could do.

For the last sentence i would add that no one knows what's right, how's right and even you don't know it. And not only your bad times but "perfect" happy times also don't mean that it is a right to happen to or to do, and anyeay everything is inconstant. I think to overcome perfectionism and excuses for not continuing something helps to support your failures as if they are equal to your victories,even i it sounds strange but once you think "Oh again failure! Only helps me to go further and everything is going as it needs to, I like it!" and prastice this mindset, then you really start liking your mistakes and easily go through them, not repeating them, and nothing good happens from hate and aggresion on yourself, remember. Dont be amazed by everyday crap, think of it as a usual thing, it would be strange and boring without in life no matter how you wish, this is a reality.

Tips to avoid procrastination from the video 1. Resistance Schedule yourself (Timetable) Eliminate the easier options Parkinson Law (Internal deadline) 2. Identifying Distractions Make a note of everything which distracts you Keep your phone outside of your room, deleting your social media apps and then redownload them, install forest Tidy Room The Now Habit Master To-Do list 3. Which task should I start with? Start with the hardest task. However, the first thing you should do is something that makes you excited to do. And the tips you gave were spot on - my fave was the first draft in 30 mins one to reduce resistance and activation energy required. Then editing that draft to something better as that's no where near as hard! 🤗🙏

I loved this video, I think it will be very helpful. Jordan shanks actually made a very good video on procrastination as well it he focused more on the everyday procrastination of life, such as doing the dishes or cleaning the house. The concept he spoke about was just doing it. So basically everyone has a voice in the head and it will tell you what you should actually be doing, and procrastination occurs when we ignore it. However if we simple got up without thinking about and do what it’s telling us to do, overtime it becomes a habit. This then translates to bigger tasks such as studying or doing assignments.

It also helps if you're studying what you like! I hated my major at university and it ruined my mental health, self worth, and happiness for 4 years! Now I'm actually studying what I like and want for the certifications I'm looking to get. I'm procrastinating much less and actually am living a dark academia aesthetic everyday as I'm in pursuit of knowledge even though I'm no longer at university. Hoping to study for masters at oxford university and truly living the dark academia life...

Procrastination is so hard to get over; I'd rather cut up grass in my lawn using scissors than get to work and study. People always mention all these fantastic ideas that could help but getting myself to actually do them is near impossible. I've heard the saying "the right environment plays a big factor" but really, I can't change the fact that my bed is 2ft away from my desk, or that I have thin walls and can hear everything that is going on in all rooms of my house. When I'm watching a video on youtube, scrolling through social feeds, eating a meal, working out or even about to sleep, there's always the thought of I need to start being productive soon(soon seems to only come if it's one hour before deadlines). I was a top student in most of elementary school and so I challenged myself to take the hardest courses offered and now, any grade below 90 is a disappointment to myself in high school. Maybe I was productive because I didn't have a smartphone that had instant access or maybe I didn't have so much freedom. Maybe I'm so unproductive now because I'm enjoying the things I never had in heaping amounts. I'm struggling so much to become productive and as a procrastinator, I guess I'm seeking an easy way out of this. In my mind, every second feels as though guilty thoughts are eating away and making me suffocate. If I could just DO IT I wouldn't even be stuck here watching all these videos and avoiding. I know that everyone has a battle to face and this might just be my greatest battle. Well, I guess now I'll stop scrolling through comments and writing one of my own and actually finish watching the video. I'm going to come back in a year to update.
