Casual I'm sorry you had to go through that. I honestly would have gotten up and left with a wet head. Lol. But I know how awkward and difficult it can be to say something in the moment. I never went to salons religiously just occasionally. I hate doing my hair. Even washing it is a chore but let me tell you once I took control and started doing it myself it's never been healthier. I do wish I could find a good stylist that I could trust and that actually listens and cares about hair health and growth. It's frustrating and time consuming because you have to literally interview them.

Yes ma'am! I got my hair braided a few weeks ago and my mom's stylist was so rough combing my hair out. I know my hair will be much thinner. She also popped a lot of hairs off when braiding my hair. That's the exact reason I've only been to a stylist 3 times in the last 7 years!

I went to the Dominicans once and I asked for rollers and they told me rollers weren’t meant for nappy hair and I tried to explain to them that it would stretch my hair and avoid the high heat from the blow dryer but they were persistent that my hair would not come out correctly with a roller set. This is why I’m in cosmetology school so I can open up a hair shop for natural girls so we don’t have to go through these things

I like everything about this video. Having someone that cares for your hair, is thoughtful, gentle and listens is priceless. Like everyone else said, I need an Eden in my life. HairByPierre She actually is in Atlanta! I traveled there for the World Natural Hair Show and had to go see her while I was in town. And the only thing she put in my hair was water and heat protectant so the shine comes from my hair being healthy and me using the rollers to stretch my hair. Stretching with indirect heat allows my hair cuticles to lay flat and reflect more light, while using a blow dryer raises my cuticles - making my hair frizzy and dull.

I love those rollers. When my hair was relaxed I use to go without a relaxer for 3 months. It straighten the roots really good.

You've inspired me. I just purchased some of these rollers. They're not easy to find. I'm sure I bought knockoffs, but hopefully they will work the same way. Did you apply a heat protectant when you rolled your hair?

Terri Boyd all Eden applied was water before rolling my hair but she did apply a heat protectant before straightening. The heat protectant she used was he Kenra Thermal Styling Spray.

PowerInYourCurl Okay, thank you!! Your hair looks gorgeous. I'm hoping keeping mine stretched will give me a break from my curly routine, which gets tiring after awhile. My hair strands are fine, with lots of kinks, or bends, and the strands dip, curve and wrap around each other easily. Unfortunately it's the way the strands grow, so nothing I can do except detangle and wash it weekly. If I do the wet set, then I can wear a stretched style longer than 1 week and get some of my weekend time back, at least for the summer.😉
