coconut oil will fry your hair girl. dont use that anymore when straightening. you may not see the damage now but if you continue your hair will cook. heat damage cant be reversed. try a silk essentials.

if it has a smoke point of 350° as long as the heat source is under that there will not be any damage. better option for higher heat usage would be avocado oil which has smoke point of over 500

Great results! Next time try using argan oil - it's way lighter and has a really high heat temperature so it makes a great natural heat protectant. Let me know if you like it and again beautiful results!

You did an amazing job.....a little hint though is to use a heat protectant next time instead of coconut oil so your hair wont be weighed down so much by the oil and you'll get a lot more movement.

Heat the coconut oil up before applying to your hair. Use a wide tooth comb. And a parting comb. Try rice water treatment. And conditioning your hair

That coconut oil..eeekkk! I was Squamish when I saw that. I'm shocked it didn't dry your hair. Or sizzle fry it. They taught me in school never ever use oil with heat..especially coconut oil. it's very preety tho. very beautiful!

I am natural too, but I strighten my hair once a week. I know thati s no good for my hair but I like it stright without the damaging relaxers. I like to blow dry it first cuz I have noticed that when I do not do it that way my ends look awful. you did a great job with your hair!!!!! I wish you could wait that long to strighten my hair.

yes I heard coconut oil and those natural oils are really bad when using heat. it will get your hair. try a heat protector. your hair is lovely. since it being your first time using heat in a long time what were the after results? any heat damage ect? please me know because I'm in the same boat and want to straighten my hair soon.

callme slimm coconut oil has a lower melting point so it's not a good heat protectant. Actual heat protectant a have hydrolysed silks and silicones which have a higher boiling point and prevent your hair getting fried. What she was doing was basically cooking her hair with coconut oil
