Haha, using VERY fine forceps. All of my brains had been dissected out already so this isn’t an art I have properly perfected yet. The time will come soon I’m sure (especially when I’m allowed to get out into the field). Hope you enjoyed the video. Don’t forget to subscribe!

Great question. Luckily, I haven’t had to kill any yet, all my samples were collected previously by my supervisor. It’s a tricky one for sure but getting permits to do these things is a very rigorous process and a lot of thought and care goes in to ensure we’re not taking too much. These butterflies only live for maximum two weeks so at least it doesn’t feel like we’ve deprived them of a long and illustrious life ☺️
