I had to play around with different smoothing irons when I started curling my hair with a straightener. Some straighteners tug the hair too much and also look for one with beveled edges. Those two tips helped me a lot!!!

Try curling on day 2 or so without washing your hair! I find it tends to hold better & give more volume. Also, texturzing spray & a little backcombing definitely help

Good grief! It never occurred to me to alternate curling inwards and outwards to avoid the clumping of the curls! Also, you mentioned curls away from the frame of the face rather than towards the face. Your video provided some excellent tips that completely updated my hairstyle!! I still can't use the flat iron to achieve this look, but I use my curling iron and leave about 1 inch at the ends. I have received so many compliments and feel like a million bucks!! Thank you so much for taking the time to do this video!!

I have the same ghd classic straightener & it's lasted me 7 years so far, it's still going strong! They are a workhorse-t he first 4-5 years I used it every single day! I curl my hair with it too, but I find that I'm able to do a great job on the right side of my head but not so much on the left! Not to mention the back- I have no idea what to do there!

I have fine straight hair so by time I get around to the other side of my head and get done. The start of my curls have already gone flat I use some hair spray to help but then it's flat and stringy looking then.

this is amazing, however having read previous posts thats it's harder than it looks, i agree, the only way I can get this to work is have a professional blow dry first or spend an hour thoroughly sectioning my hair and drying with a big round brush, it would take me an hour and a half....worth it but not often, my arms are almost falling off, but for parties, nights out, great!!

I do this and my hair curls nicely but mine is almost TOO thick. like when I'm done it looks like a lion mane or a giant triangle. Think I need to use thinning shears and thin out the ends a bit, maybe. Yours is so cute!
