Kia, my hair is EXACTLY like yours. I was in awe when I saw your video because finally, I saw someone else with my hair! For my hair, I blow dry it with a bristle round brush, then use Velcro rollers. I have to wash it every day! Using dry shampoo the next day does not work for me. My hair also gets frizzy and has no weight to it. One thing I have come to realize, though, is having fine, thin hair doesn’t stop any of us from living a full, rich, and wonderful life! Thanks for posting all your videos!!

I have naturally thin, fine hair and its been a lifelong challenge..I use volumizing shampoos and conditioners - dry shampoo, texturizing sprays and root volumizing products. Oribe mousse and texturizing spray have been my best friends. I blow dry a couple of times a week and I also use a wand curling iron for loose beachy waves. I also love Loreal Elnet hairspray. Hair fibers are also a great tool to cover thin areas and parts. Occasionally I use halo hair extensions for a night out..Your hair looks amazing!! I think fine, thin hair can be beautiful if its taken care of. Unfortunately I have had some mean girls in the past make rude comments about my hair and it made me very self conscious..I removed those people from my life and Ive never felt better..

Hi Kia, I love your discussions about thin hair. THANK YOU! Your hair looks so beautiful in this shorter cut. I also have very fine hair. I think when you stop using heat or hot water you have to allow time to grow out the new undamaged hair. I stopped using shampoos with sulfates (except to clarify once every 3 weeks and that is followed with a deep conditioning) and I do not use products with any alcohol (too drying) or silicones (they darken and weigh down the hair shaft). I have also given up heat styling and rarely blow dry on even a low setting. When I am being very good I use my fingers instead of combs and brushes to make sure I am being very gentle with my hair. My hair is growing out from the scalp with more strength and better color. In contrast my ends appear dry and thin and I have booked a salon trip to cut them off. I hope you accept the challenge to avoid heat for one month and maybe you will notice more "life" at the roots of your new hair? (All that being said, I don't look nearly as stylish as you...but my hair is looking healthier!)

Looking good. When my hair has dried, i put my hair at the crown & sides in a pony tail. ( Like a half up half down style) & put some hair spray all around the roots of the pony tail, then leave it for about 5 minutes, so the spray settles & dries. Then undo the little pony tail & just smooth it out with my fingers. Then finish with another light spray of hairspray. It gives my thin flat hair volume all day. x

I love how positive and confident you stay with your hair 💗 I’m not even gonna comment on how much heat you use because I’m exactly the same and I know and understand too but a lot of people don’t know how important it’s for us to feel good and have our hair done ☹️ one thing I would suggest it’s doing hair masks at night !! Moisturize your hair at night to help with the frizzy hair !! Use olive/coconut oil 👍🏼 love you and keep sharing !! 😘

Very interesting video. Thank you for sharing. I have fine hair too, and my styling regimen is similar, but I have a few tips to share - hope you will not take offense. I use Olaplex products. Shampoo, conditioner, weekly treatment, and my hair color specialist uses Olaplex 1 in the color mix to restructure or strengthen hair bonds. It has really helped, and you can go lighter without damage. There is a leave in styling product to eliminate frizz that just came out too. I tried tape in extensions for about a year and was thrilled to finally have the length and volume I wanted. I have a few in now just for a little extra volume. I was so surprised that there was no damage and my hair really grew with the extensions. I prefer Extensionology. The hair strands are fine like my hair and more comfortable. It is addictive and expensive however! I use collagen daily and take supplements from a MD who practices alternative medicine to stay as healthy as possible. Healthy fats in the diet help too. Finally, for styling, I only wash 2x per week max, and only 1 if I can get away with it. The longer you don’t wash the more your hair gets used to it and it can appear cleaner longer. I use T3 and ghd platinum stylers. I had the one you are using and I think it is very damaging. Using a large barrel curling iron on low to create loose waves creates more volume for special occasions. No dry shampoo because it strips oil. I am ordering a pony tail piece for no wash days and updos are my go to. Hope these tips help someone. I know how frustrating thin hair can be. 🌸

I am not trying to critique your steps, I’m saying these ideas to maybe let you try them to see if they help. You are pulling down on the straightener when youre straightening your hair. Try starting closer to the root and almost lifting it up at the root and like doing hair circle motion to make lift at the root. That’s what I do to help with volume. When I pull on just my ends like that. Mid to ends. It makes my hair look flatter. And if you can get some aveda thickening tonic. It’s great with the volumizer.
@martinacaffrey44115 жыл бұрын
You should use a round barrel brush and turn the ends under with the blow dryer. You can also lift at the roots with the dryer to give some lift. With the straightener - the ends just sit straight with a stringy effect.

Kia Lindroos have you tried the aveda paddle brush? I've tried all kinds of round brushes, manual and rotating.. I found the paddle brush to be better, I can direct the dryer on a large section of hair up on the brush, it does help with volume and helps keep the hair tamed/straight too

Fellow thin fine haired person here and if I could give you a tip- try using your wide comb in your hair first after your shower and before brushing-going gently from the ends to the crown of course. It will detangle more gently without pulling. I find I never have to cut out and knots and I lose less hair if I use my comb first.

Thats amazing to hear! I have heard this from so many people. About a year ago I went 3 months without any blow drying or straightening (or any other kind of heat). I honestly didn't see any difference other than feeling less confident because I would stop myself from styling it ;) That being said, I know there could have been a million other reasons why I didn't notice a difference. Like I say in the video. I do suggest using a little heat as possible. I only shared this as so many have asked ;) But yeah. I should find a way to feel put together without all the heat ;) Thanks girl
@BlueMountain20175 жыл бұрын
@@KiaHazel, I don't use heat on my very thin, fine hair either. I wash it at night, every other night. I also don't use any styling products and rarely any conditioner. Usually it looks okay the next morning (soft & shiny) though if I use a shampoo that gives me buildup, I have weird bends in my hair. I have to be careful about the shampoos I use. They put so many unnecessary ingredients in many shampoos that probably work for people with thick hair but these shampoos put too much buildup on mine. When I was young most shampoos were much simpler. You could use them every day. But what you are doing makes your hair look great. Everyone has to find what works for themselves, I think. I found after many years of trying different things (perms, different cuts) what works for me. But I still enjoy reading and watching other women's suggestions.

Love your channel! Is your brush good for wet hair. I don't have one, so I just comb it. @richardeidemiller67395 жыл бұрын
First of all you don't have thin hair, you have fine hair. Second if you never become comfortable with not using heat you will continue to dry out and split it. At some point it will split all the way up the hair shaft causing it to be more fly away. It's an endless cycle and you'll never get off until you wind up with bald spots and very dry static filled fly away hair only even less of it. At that point you can go to a wig because no amount of products, supplements etc.will grow it back. Your hair is very fine which equals weaker than normal. It can't bounce back from all that you do to it like thick moisture filled hair does. Take it from who knows. Stop now.
