I'm not gonna lie. When I heard you got a divorce, I was absolutely terrified that you were going to hurt yourself, it really scared me. I really honestly believe you're one of the toughest people I've ever seen. To have survived what you have? To go through all of that? That requires strength. You're far more than what you see in the mirror.

Noscamaroz28 You are the poster child for ignorance. No tax money went in to Boogie's surgery. You're just a sad hateful little person. Try some meditation. You may be able to locate that little part of you that has empathy and sympathy, and not jump to such dispicable ASSumptions about someone you CLEARLY do not follow.

My divorce was in 1992, we didn't have social media. My ex slept around and was a drug addict, left me for a drug dealer who cut her off the freebies and turned her into a mule as soon as the divorce was final. She had it comin', I couldn't sign the divorce papers fast enough.

As a divorced man, I'd like to offer some counter-advice to one of Boogie's statements: Exercise EXTREME caution if you decide to attempt to be friends with your ex. I made that attempt and it went well for about 6 months. Then she started asking me for monetary assistance. As a friend I tried helping her -- and she wound up screwing me out of around $1000. It was the second-worst mistake I'd ever made in my life (the worst having married her in the first place,) and as such, I am now in a position to offer this advice to anyone wanting to remain friends with your ex: DON'T! When you break up, break up completely. Anything less than that will find you in a very bad position -- perhaps not today...maybe not even tomorrow, but it will happen eventually....

Honestly the biggest piece of advice I wish I had was don’t delete/throw away all the pictures. I spent 90% of Jr. high and high school in 2 serious relationships (different times obviously). But when we broke up I just deleted everything that had to do with the girls. Now I have basically no pictures of me from that period of my life so that sucks. And now I can see that each relationship brought me to where I am now in my life and it’s something I should be able to look back on and appreciate the happy times we had.

The people that say that Dez "took boogie for everything", she deserved what she got. Boogie said himself that he would probably be dead or on his way there if it wasn't for her. What is money when you owe someone your life? she got with him when he was broke, drove him to make his channel what it is today, and was the only reason he ever went to any events. She put in her time, it didn't pan out so they split and she got her share of a business that probably wouldn't exist without her. Boogie got the house and most importantly Sammy. He made out alright :)

Well i guess Boogie would be the definitive answer on at least what he believes she deserves. The courts might have a different opinion. A little presumptuous to assume Boogie would of pushed the channel like he has without Dezs help, especially when it was Boogie who made the statement to the contrary. Does a stay at home mom deserve half if her and her husband get divorced? The answer is fucking YES
@gentlecat7735
@gentlecat7735 6 жыл бұрын
I'm not saying if it was right or wrong. I don't know the details. but saying she deserved it, he owe her his life. Do i get to break a mans legs if i drag him out of a burning car first? There is no reason to take more than what is deemed fair for both parties. You dont get to run over people just because they might have been depending on you. Again I'm not saying anything about boogies x but he shouldn't let himself get screwed over just because he feels like he owes her. If she taking as much as she did (still no clue) was mutually agreed upon, then more power to you guys

Thank you for your thoughts! The advice you give about holding onto some belongings with shared memories and storing them away for another day is really nice. Our hearing was two days before my birthday and I had requested the divorce the day after her birthday. This has been scarier than the first few moments of boot camp, more surreal than the wedding, far more sad than a family member dying. I'm so happy you are pulling through and exploring more of the world than you have lately and I'm rooting for you! Keep it up and thank you for being such a supporting figure in the lives of so many others.

I don't think it's that bad when parents get divorced when you are young. There aren't that many memories of them to together so what will you be sad about? Much less when you still get to see both of them still. It seems worse when they get divorced when the kids are much older. There are more memories of them together. That's why when someone say's "my parents divorced when i was 5-6 " and try to make it seem like a traumatic thing it just doesn't make sense. Even if it was, like a lot of fighting and stuff, the kids or teens are usually happy that they got divorced to stop all the fighting.

I want to thank you for being so open through this period Boogie. A couple years ago, you and a few others gave me the inspiration I needed to lose around 200 lbs, make some friends, start living life. Then, 6 months ago, my mom died. Had a fairly similar relationship as you did with your mom. It wrecked me. I returned to never leaving my house, eating terribly, just giving up. Every video you've done talking about this has helped me so much. I'm getting things back on track again. Love you, Boogie. :)

A recommendation I heard about divorce that sounded very reasonable for me was DO NOT BE FRIENDS WITH YOUR EX. Not out of spite but because you have a history together and having friendly contact will inevitably overlap with the act of courting. I looked it up, it's from a video called "Can Exes Be Friends?" Very eye-opening.
@davidscritchfieldds

Alejandro Mer unfortunately it's not that easy when you have kids involved. Your children love both of their parents. They don't deserve to see the two people they love the most spitting venom whenever they meet up.

If you have a kid, the parents should be friends after a divorce. Not friends like coming over for dinner, but just being able to talk for a few minutes helps. Otherwise how are they taking care of the kids, if the parents can't talk to each other? You're advice is WRONG and DANGEROUS! 🚨🚨🚨
@Improbabilities

Being friends with an ex is definitely not for everyone. Both people have to agree that getting back together would be stupid. They also can't be jealous of each other. If you aren't okay with seeing your ex with someone else, and/or can't be nice to your ex's new partner, don't try to be friends with your ex. My ex dumped me about a year ago. We go to the same dance class every week, and she usually brings the guy she is seeing there. She is still part of the group of friends I've invited over next weekend. So being friends with your ex works, as long as courting is out of the question.

when you have sex with someone and it ends it is impossible to deal with that person without something happening in the bed again. Even people that hate each other do it. If you want a relationship with someone and you have an ex, don't ever let her get close. Just like those bitches saying that they have lots of friends that were boyfriends, yup, they all want the dick sometime somewhere somehow, it is impossible. Fuck, even when you hate someone and you never see that person for years and that person comes again the only thing you think is sex and not anger. I've seen it all, I never took a chance, that is why I'm working it out without problems besides the rare unknown number texting hi, that is easy to block and delete.

I can agree with most of what you said here. I've been through divorce however mine was complicated and messy but ONLY because of Kids. I think folks who get divorced without Children the process is completely different. The reality is either way, divorce in all rational a Mourning process, it's a loss for everyone involved. The only thing I would add to what you had to say Boogs is DO NOT go out and jump in another relationship, I see this time and time again. My ex did it, I have friends that do it. It's always the same story, a chaotic mess of no feelings ever getting sorted out and getting back to a good mental and emotional state. For me, swallowing my pride and actually talking to people was the hardest thing. I still don't talk openly about my divorce, I only speak of it in terms of the impacts it has with my daughter since my YT channel is heavily based around the life of a single Dad. outside of that, I rarely if ever speak of my Ex Wife.

Hey Man! I went through a divorce almost a decade ago. Happily re-married now ... and now I know what a healthy marriage is supposed to be like! I’ve always found the best way to get over someone is to make memories with someone else. Not necessarily a romantic partner, but old/new friends are a good starting point. That phrase “the best way to get over him is to get under someone else” may not be 100% the best way to go about it, but the principle behind it is. Thank you for opening up and sharing your experience Boogie, I know a LOT of us are so incredibly thankful to you for this. ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

Once you have kids though, a lot of this becomes much more complicated. You can't just throw away kids, or the stuff they love that may remind you of marriage. You may not really be able to get out and make new friends if you're taking care of kids. You're going to have to see each other frequently if you have kids. It complicates the entire situation.
@vdglife
@vdglife 6 жыл бұрын
You make a sound point however, there are ways to still follow his advice. If you have kids you will need to rely on Friends and Family even more. Ask your parents or siblings if they don't mind taking care of the kids for a few hours so you can have some time with friends to clear your head. Make new memories by taking the kids to an amusement park, a play, movies, picnic, hiking, bike riding, etc. When you are around your Ex just be courteous to each other. You don't have to be friends, but you don't have to treat each other like crap as well. You are correct that this will be a much bigger undertaking with children than without, but it is still possible.

nextlastgengamer - True! Boogie should have added "Divorcees without kids". It is infinitely more difficult dealing with emotions and your children's emotions when a divorce occurs between parents. That being said Boogie's advice is good especially about going out and meeting new people.

nextlastgengamer Yes, I am a kid in that situation. It basically just sucks. It's like you're trapped. (Speaking for my mom as well) Thankfully, your mind isn't trapped. Knowing that and working towards the betterment of your life and the lives around you is what can help you to survive. Sometimes that just means trying to be a good person. It's hard for us to remember that.

Thanks for this great video Boogie.It's been 3 years since my second divorce and I still found things in this video to be valuable revelations even now. I have used many of them for my first divorce without even really realizing it but needed some new aspects to implement for the second as there are still days I'm reeling after all this time. Between your recovery update video and this one, I saw two things today that I really needed. Keep up the great work both on yourself and on your channel. Thank you!

I would agree fully, but I know too much about "total biscuit" and his plight. Not trying to take anything away from boogie, just hoping to bring attention to cynical brit and the amazing strength and resilience he has shown through his fight. Boogie has the confidence to know he can beat this(whatever the "this" might be). TB is in a fight he knows he's going to lose, and yet faces it with a level of determination that is unparalleled. He is the epitome of "rage(ing) against the dying of the light". And he's doing it, like Boogie, on the public stage. Which takes brass balls the size of watermellons.

Advice for divorcees? Boogie you're in no position to give advice, you said that you should surround yourself with people, but not everyone has a 4,4 million subscriber base. Honestly you should feel blessed to have an outlet like this where you can vent all of your problems. Also don't rush getting married , your wife left you once you started getting better , the timing is so off it's obvious she married you for the heritage but when you got better she bailed. Had you continued your previous lifestyle she would probably be a martyr by now,profiting of your death. Also cut any ties you had with her it's time to move on.

I am looking forward to watching this. I had my first breakup with my bf of 3 years. Its been 10 months and im still struggling. I hate it. But its hard when you have depression and ocd along with getting no closure. I also spend a lot of time alone as i work and live alone lol. But ive watched you succeed so much and make it through this and it really inspires me. Thank you for finally posting a video like this. I understand a break up is not a divorce. And im sorry if its offensive to compare. Just i had a ring and i did think i was spending forever with him. And now...im not even worth a hello. Its a hard concept to think people can just fall out of love and i wonder if ill ever feel that way. Or if this is one of those things you dont let go of but rather learn to live with. Sorry if this makes no sense. Im crazy sleep deprived. The point is I was worried when you spoke of your divorce. Because depression does not make this pain any easier to cope with. But i keep seeing you do it. And it just makes me think maybe I can one day i can better cope with it too

Casey, I can definitely relate. Thanks for sharing. If you care to read my rambling story, here it is. I erased the wedding invite card designs from my old computer at the beginning of this year. The wedding was planned for last summer, but I got kicked out of the apartment instead. I left my ring on a tree branch in a forest nearby. I can't compare my engagement to a marriage either, but I had started to plan the rest of my life with her, and we were talking about when we were going to have kids. And suddenly, all those plans didn't mean a thing. That wasn't my first breakup, and definitely not my worst. Still, thinking that I was going to spend the rest of my life with someone led to a whole new emptiness, when they were suddenly gone. It has been about 14 months since the breakup now, and I am starting to look forward, thinking about what I want to do in the coming years. I can't give you any advice that Boogie hasn't already talked about it in this video. Just don't give up, find people you trust and find things you like to do. From my experience, it will become easier to cope over time. I wish you the best of luck, and urge you to keep working towards a happier future.

Huh, maybe it's just me - but you kept personal detail to a VERY bare minimum - I did not hear you say hurtful or even disrespectful things about your ex-wife! On the contrary, I never knew much about the mystery woman ^-^ - and you did not gave me the impression that it's her fault - in fact, I remember you saying VERY nice things about her and respected her feelings totally. So... like I said, maybe it's just me, but I thought you had done an amazing job in keeping things quiet and to a super fair minimum. As it should be - a divorce usually requires two :)

Good advice. Especially the part about memorabilia. I went through a very painful and self-destructive separation many years ago, and I was smart enough to keep stuff that makes me remember the good times. Whenever I feel down and depressed, I open the box with stuff like photos, a stuffed animal I won for her at the fair, her poems she wrote for and about me (I could sadly never write any back since I don't have the talent), correspondence etc. Abd using that I can feel the happiness I had back then. It's bitter sweet, but I'm so very glad I kept those things instead of throwing them out.

- Girlfriend marries the guy out of pity and also because she wanted a beta provider to pay the bills. - Girlfriend cheats on his ass for years while looking for an exit (She literally posted pics of herself with her side guy while claiming he was just a "friend"). - Girlfriend figures out Boogie is now loaded because of KZbin. - Girlfriend now has her exit, files for a divorce and takes half his money. - Boogie is now in denial and tries to tell himself "She deserved every penny" when he explicitly knew he was getting used for years. - Girlfriend is back to riding BBC while having her retirement money set so she doesn't have to work a day in her life, thanks to Boogie. I have a lot of respect for you Boogie, but this kind of shit is ridiculous, you know that you got played and just to avoid making it painful, you deny it and literally encourage her for it. I know a lot of fanboys will contest this comment a lot, but hey, let's be logical here, if you got cheated on and played by your wife "who supposedly gave you strength", do you think you'd give her half your wealth when she decides she is leaving your ass for the guy she's been fucking with on your back for the last 2-3 years or so ? What you do with your divorce is your business Boogie, but don't go on the internet and pretend the way you handled this is perfectly fine. Also, next time you decide to marry a useless gold digger, make her sign a prenup so you don't lose half your life's work when she decides to bail on you. Take care Boogie, you really deserve happiness after all of this. You look a lot healthier now that she is gone and i hope you keep on doing good work. We are all looking forward to what you have to offer in the months and years ahead.
