𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗲: the diet Ringo had was only for a month until he got used to us, and environment. later, i got him to eat fruits and veggies, i even ordered 5kg of pellets for him and budgies but he refuses to eat it. so many rude comments about the cage i moved him in, it was because of easier taming. today he lives in a big cage with many toys and comfy perches. before you spread negative energy, watch more videos about him. he is fully recovered ♡ *Join the channel membership!* kzbin.info/door/3LPNxGSun2TgzWOYjTNP1Qjoin

To y'all saying the seeds are bad: Yes they are bad but when a bird has been neglected it probably hasn't eaten much. You need to start out small insted of throwing a bucket load of fruit and veggies to it. Like my bird Pearl was rescued from the RSPCA and she refused to eat anything besides seeds in that first month we got her. She's starting to eat a lot of different food now because we slowly introduced her to it. So yeah, try to get a grip of the situation before commenting.

Since he doesn’t eat anything but seeds, look up tips on how to wean birds from seed to pellets. They provide important nutrients for a proper diet! Seeds have very high fat content which is okay for budgies but not so much for cockatiels. :) Ringo is very cute and I’m glad he has someone new who cares about him!
@blackwell-cronie83404 жыл бұрын
It's not really okay for budgies either. All birds should consume a certain % of seed in their diet it just decreases depending on the birds size. Budgies should still be fed chop and pellets

I'm from Croatia, right next to Bosnia. And I can tell you, pellets ain't readily available and Amazon often doesn't ship here. Sadly we are generally stuck with stuff like that here: seeds. The best we can do is give them fruits and veg as fresh food

@@agysuausbhsusu8316 Cockatiels need a lot of room. Minimum of a 3 by 5 by 5 foot cage. They need room for their wingspan, areas to climb, and also to have many areas of comfort in the cages. I've had a cockatiel, they get very stressed in tiny cages. Mine plucked her feathers when I got her because of how tiny her cage was. It wasn't until three years later I learned she didn't have the right cage.

You give him a good home and care. His feathers are coming back and he starts to talk and sing. Go on. The budgies are a good company. So,at first you don't have to add a second tiel. Just a few tips from your friendly neighborhood bird lover! Try and invest in some pellets for their main diet.. seeds are like treats for them along with millet and are best used for training... too many seeds in a bird's diet can cause fatty liver disease and can harm your bird... it's like if all you ate was Mcdonalds! I'm so glad you're helping that little bird have a better life! Ps. If you have the money try to invest in some natural wood perches.. using only straight dowels can cause problems with their feet...

Seeds should be part of their daily diet.
@adiraaspires77834 жыл бұрын
Rosalee Salas seeds are a treat. While they eat seeds in the wild they work it off easily and don’t have as much as they would have at home. Birds don’t require seeds to live, it’s just something they can’t eat and find in the wild
@princessdulce38304 жыл бұрын
Cece Kat That’s funny. They can’t find pellets either in the wild. Pellets are so processed that a really good seed mix is so much healthier.
@adiraaspires77834 жыл бұрын
Rosalee Salas Pellets are a mix of natural foods (at least proper pellets are) like vegetables where as seeds are fatty and can cause fatty liver disease. I have done a lot of research on birds and a mix of Chop and Pellets are the healthiest option for birds. Seeds and millet are like treats for the birds and are best for training. It’s like giving a child a cookie for using the potty and giving the child a mix of healthy food for their meals, vs giving a child McDonald’s and cake every meal. Not only does the treat lose value for training but the bird is losing nutrition it WOULD have in the wild.

I currently adopted a budgie he had a partner but she passed away so he is lonely now with his mirror I’ve had him for almost a 5 months I talk to him he gets near me, I put my finger he gets on my finger but pointed towards the mirror I’m pretty sure he developed that disorder where they are obsessed with a mirror, and I can’t really bond with my little guy cause he’s always to busy in being right beside his mirror, idk if I should take the mirror out because he’s already 4 years and I’m pretty sure he had that same mirror for a while now so I feel like taking the mirror away from my budgie would make him really depressed as it was the only “friend” he has, but at the same time I wanna bond with the guy more and take him out of his cage and pet the guy without him being scared... any suggestions I’d really appreciate the advise..

Sorry for the late reply. You should definitely take out the mirror. It can become a real problem when they become obsessed with the mirror. It will not bother him if you take the mirror out if you are able to tame him. If you aren’t able to have him out for multiple hours in a day, then I suggest you get him a friend to help with the loneliness. Just be careful though, they sometimes bond with each other and won’t want to come to you. Budgies can be hard to tame, but once you do have them tame they can be great birds!
@jasperclydeinsd5924 жыл бұрын
Here’s two suggestions: Talk to a vet and do some research.
@108wee4 жыл бұрын
yes! take out the mirror. becoming obsessed with their reflection it extremely unhealthy mentally for them. they will try to "mate" with the mirror and the the stress of getting "rejected" (aka not getting those signals back) will cause them to start plucking. once the mirror is taken out, you can replace the companionship that the mirror brought by bonding with the bird yourself. make sure that when you are petting the bird that all touches are only in the head area as petting other parts of the body will trigger the bird sexually and cause them to become sexually frustrated and more aggressive not only to you but the other people near you. try to handle him a few hours a day and eventually he will get used to your presence. when you are first handling him, unfortunately you will have to force him out of the cage. no they really dont like it but you got to do it as some birds will never come of the cage voluntarily. make sure you are gentle and predictable as to not startle the bird and to prevent a negative association with your presence from forming try giving him some of his favorite treats so that his experience with your company is a good one. eventually he will start coming out of the cage on his own and you can just pick him up from the top of the cage to start the interaction. of course this is only my individual taming tacit, i would of course recommend doing your own research to see what style is best suited for your personality, situation, and of course the personality of the bird himself.
@gallardoy92114 жыл бұрын
Icy Dice thanks for the advise I recently took his mirror out and he’s been going out of his cage but yea he’s a very nice budgie but whenever I touch his stomach he gets angry I switch to petting him by his head, I have bought him Millet which he enjoys he gets outta his cage just to eat some.

I hope you dont take this the wrong way it Is still a very good thing you did and karma will her you for saving the Bird. Good bless you 🥰🥰❤️

No cockatiels donnot have to have a "buddy" that is a myth. Don't take this the wrong way but some people don't have any other species, just one cocketial , they adapt very well to humans or other species for "their flock" i mean the human can be there flock.
@GossipSis4 жыл бұрын
@@carolhartley4448 im sorry but I hardly disagree. A human can never replace a bird friend. Of course Cockatiels are good with many kind of birds, but they do still not speak the same language, they do need another cockatiel to socialize, otherwise its not good for their psychologial state. My father is a breeder and this is the only truth

@@carolhartley4448 human can be their flock? i'm sorry but if you really knew and loved birds, you'd know that this is bullshit. you can't clean them, fly with them, feed them, sing with them or talk to them. the human might be happy about it but the bird would always prefer one of his own kind over the human so stop sounding so selfish.

Omg I was crying 😢 at beginning . I have 3 cockatiels , and they have 2 large cages & perches that are always open whenever I am home & a play gym... plus they hang out with me . Thank you for getting him out of that HORRIBLE jail cell with nothing In it ...they are so intelligent .... and need to spread their wings and have lots of space and different types of activities & toys in addition to human interaction & love . And other birds as long as they get along . People are so cruel to do this to any creature especially winged creatures who are meant to have tons of space & be free whenever possible , and according to safety as possible . Thank you so much for loving this bird ❤️❤️❤️

Good job on saving this little guy! :) You're planning on getting him a female as a friend? I bet he would be very happy. (still watching the video btw but I wanted to express my happyness for this little guy real quick) I have 7 currently where I saved about 3-4 which are not tamed. I don't care about it since I just look at them and from time to time they pay me visits and walk around or even under my chair. 😄 Take care of him. Ringo (my dog is named Ringo, too) will have a long and wonderful life with you.

That little guy is so cute. Feathers or not I would take him in a heartbeat. When I get a new pet, I tend take the one that is the most sickly. You are a good person, thanks for giving that little guy a second chance at life.

@@dennythebudgie I'm by no means an expert, but the consensus among avian vets seems to be that lettuce is toxic to cockatiels. Not to worry, there are plenty of other veggies they enjoy. My cockatiels love corn (in small amounts), or chillies which are super healthy for them. Good luck! ❤️

You should be only be feeding about 15 percent seeds. You should try to supplement with pellets. It takes work but he will live longer and be healthier. Seeds are like eating only cookies

@@bird7622 hi there! As a neighbor resident of Bosnia I can tell you: we don't have pellets here. And Amazon doesn't ship most stuff here. Sadly we are usually stuck with feeding them seeds except the occasional veggies and fruits (or fully on a diet of fruit and veg) Trust me, I tried ordering and we get somewhat better Internet delivery service here in Croatia but they sill wouldn't deliver. That's how it is sadly, not everyone has variety available

Are your budgies young , most failed or not fully tame birds are that way because they are a little older and less susceptible to being tamed, this is why I presume by behaviours the cockatiel makes in this video the cockatiel was once tame or hand reared. So more than likely if your birds are a bit older then it’s because they are less susceptible and not that you are taming incorrectly ☺️

1Basic_Bitch one of my budgies is young and my other one is halfway there of being an Adult but the older one trust me a bit more then my other since I had him longer, he’s ok with stepping up but goes back to his cage, but now currently I’ve been trying to hand feed them and it’s going quite well my young bird got to the point of where she trusted me enough to step up to eat
