Are you running a marathon this year? Got any questions for Sarah?
@AlbertWeijers Жыл бұрын
I'm running Eindhoven marathon, in the Netherlands, hopefully sub 4 hours, my age is 54, so these BQ times are pretty far out of my reach. No question for Sarah, just compliments on this marathon, well done!

I loved this video :) Inspiring and full with positive energy. I have signed up for the Helsinki City Running Day marathon on 13th of May. So in three weeks. I am ready and prepared. My plan is to finish between 4:00 - 4:15. I have done my last long run 33km on Tuesday. I have logged ~1300km in the last 20 weeks. My question is what should be the best strategy for the last 3 weeks.

I would like to run a marathon some day. Did my first half marathon this year at 1:54. But i got several injuries. Putting me out of running for 6 weeks. I guess mostly because a ramped up my volume to much and my rest / recovery after was bad. So my biggest question is. How to recover properly from such an event? And wwhen is your first training afterwards?

Sarah - you are such an inspiration! All of us long distance runners know how hard it is to go that far but to do it all alone and with zero crowds? To be physically and mentally capable and tough enough to do it just for fun? You are just such a beast! Loved seeing Boston from this perspective. To any one that questions the race results, SARAH WON. YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST! 😂❤

@@Enoch-Root I trained for my first half marathon alone in only three months. Totally doable but getting up to 20 miles alone was a different beast for me! I did most of the other runs this training block for my first full with friends and it made a huge difference for me.

I got my 2024 BQ at Boston on Monday! What a wonderful experience! I enjoyed every minute, even with the long bus ride and porta potty lines and a painfully full bladder. It was on my bucket list and I am grateful to my running buddies who encouraged me to go for it :)

AMAZING!!! 💙💙💙 I ran my first full Marathon last sunday, even though Half-Marathon distance is already... "routine" for me, I was exhausted at 18k already. And after 23k I thought I might die. xD I really wasn't in my best shape that day. The weather also was warmer than expected and I was still in my period-week (+Endometriosis, sometimes it felt like my lower body would just fall off at some point) It all got better at 38K - somehow it even made me cry when I ran past 40. Seeing that sign and running past it made me so emotional somehow. And EVEN though I thought earlier that I would never do this again - now I somehow can't wait to do this again!

That was great fun - thank you! I have a BQ time - I'm in my early 50s and got 3.21 in Edinburgh last year. I'm unsure if I'll ever get there to do it though! I live in South West France now and on Saturday I'm running my first ever 'festive marathon' - the Marathon des Vins de Blaye. These are bonkers. You run through chateaux (no fewer than 30 at Blaye!) and are offered wine and fine food. Loads of people go in fancy dress too. I'm staying off the wine and just wearing the regular shorts and vest... If you guys ever want to run one, let me know! A group of my French pals and I will welcome you. Thanks for the videos!
