@@Enochulate88 why, if dog shit gets stuck to your shoe or gum, get stuck to your shoe it gets stuck in little grooves, and you have to scrub it off. If you are barefoot, you are most likely watching out for your surroundings. Therefore dog shit or gum probably won’t get stuck to your feet making going barefoot a lot cleaner than wearing shoes

Born in the third world, used to walk barefoot, run through gravel roads and through fields without a care, stepped on some sharp rocks and glass here and there, and you just go "eh, i'll live". After living in Canada for almost 10 years now, my soles are almost like a white cushion. When I tested out how it feels and I get a little tickle now that I don't have that hard / callous like texture I used to have as a kid. Gives me a mixed feeling, knowing that my soles are like this because I'm living more comfortably, but at the same time some sadness through the nostalgia of how it used to feel more free. Think of the feeling of just walking through the sand and whisking your feet through it.

I’m struggling with plantar fasciitis hard right now. I’ve never had it, and it’s been going on 1.5 months now. I’m gaining weight and putting on extra unwanted mass (I’m lifting, but not staying under calories because I used to run for that, but can’t now). Was there anything else you did to cure it, or just go barefoot?

Great analogy about the mittens. In anatomy class they teach you that there are two places on your body where there is "thick skin"; the palms of your hands and the soles of your feet. That is the actual medical term. The reason for this should be obvious: those are the areas of our body that come into contact the most with the outside world. Wearing shoes is actually very similar to wearing gloves. Imagine wearing gloves all day in the summer.

The human body is just something else entirely, Literally. You are just living in there. Imagine living in a house and never being brave enough to EXplore ALL rooms, or driving a car and not know how it drives or capable of. Such is the social conditioning. This body and what we call nature is simply something else entirely. Waking up another day is a Gift we all take for granted. There is something that has been hidden from you. Wherever you are, who ever you are. Stay connected. Nature was is and always will be.

I do wonder about hypothermia is it possible to not be affected by it but if you are a 24 seven barefoot walking person and you want to hike in a colder climate or a snowy climate, do you wear waterproof socks instead or just go barefoot and the more your feet will get adjusted to the different temperatures. I do know that wearing socks can help people feel warmer faster and keeping your toes warm is very important in Alpine climbing just a question.

No chelsea, what I think he is referring to is a parasite that comes from snails. It can live on them then get on grass, sidewalks etc. Part of its lifecycle is that it can infect humans. Saw a documentary on it years back. I digress, "yep many bad things can happen in life" this is true. To this day rabies is still common in certain areas, one of the nastiest viruses around/ like (98% fatality rate if not treated) or the brain eating ameba found in fresh water lakes occasionally 🤷‍♂ you gota live life though, just keep movin.....🙏 -Cheers

"Shoes" ... POAH 🤮❗ I'm barefoot hiker since at my 2 years old (in 1961) ... 🌲🦶🏼🦶🏼🌲🌄👍🏻 Humans have evolved barefoot and the feet are well-equipped to handle any problems they might encounter on the ground. Aside from accidentally stepping onto something that might be painful (e.g. a Lego) you’ll be fine. In fact, it’s much healthier to go barefoot, than to let your foot sweat inside your shoe, creating a dark, damp and warm environment, perfect for the growth of bacteria and fungi. Aside from that, your average modern shoe is too narrow for the human foot, meaning it will compress and eventually deform your foot causing all kinds of issues. In fact ... “Going barefoot is the gentlest way of walking and can symbolise a way of living - being authentic, vulnerable, sensitive to our surroundings. It’s the feeling of enjoying warm sand beneath our toes, or carefully making our way over sharp rocks in the darkness. It’s a way of living that has the lightest impact, removing the barrier between us and nature".- Adele Coombs, “Barefoot Dreaming”.

This is my second year walking only on my own skin (as far it is possible, work demands security boots and some restaurants and other cultural "institutions" are somewhat strange in their views....). Reading some comments asking for winter and stuff, I began my new freedom in a rather cold February. The first weeks were rather terrible, since my feet were not used to walking barefoot and also not to cold temperatures. But, training makes the difference here. The more you walk barefoot, the better your feet can cope with different soils. May it be the smoothness of sand at the beach or the harsh betony in cities. Also, using your feet as they are meant to be, let's them actually get warm due to a better blood flow and the energy of movement (whereas in shoes your feet don't have to move that much). However, and this must be clear to anybody who walks the barefoot path: Listen to your body! Is the ground ok for your feet? Are your feet exhausted (especially in the beginning you are going to encounter that feeling for quite a while)? So, be responsible for yourself. Wear shoes if you have to. Don't be a hero and risk your health. Is it summer and the asphalt is boiling? -> Protect your feet or risk burnings and blisters. Is it deep minus degrees? -> You can walk on ice and snow barefoot for a while, but not forever. If your feet get numb, put on shoes. Also keep in mind, that in winter cities sidewalks and streets are often littered with salt. And that process drops the temperature even further and can cause severe freezings. Same goes for dangerous areas like glas shards or whatever. To summarize, yes, you can walk barefoot the entire year, you even get used to cold temperatures without any problems. As long as you listen to your body and put on protection when it is necessary. ...and even for the short periodes of shoe wearing, there are minimalistic shoes and so-called barefoot shoes available designed exactly for those situations. Not to always wear them, but to offer protection for the time needed.

after going barefoot for about a month the skin on your feet is thick enough to where you can step on broken glass and not feel a thing 99% of the time. But, one of the biggest reasons that barefoot running/hiking decreases injury, is because when you are barefoot you pay WAY more attention to where you step than you do when you have thick soled shoes on.
